IIEST - One of the best colleges in India

The admission is done through Jossa Counselling on the basis of Jee Main Rank. Jossa Counselling was just done after jee advanced results deceleration. You can check the Jossa website for further updates. One can get the college around 95 percentile for general category students, for obc 89 percentile and for sc -st 82 percentile. There is fee remission for sc -st.

There are 9 courses offered to Undergraduate Students. All departments in iiest are very dedicated and focused on students. All professors are PhD holders from a reputed institute like IITs, nits, iisc. Research culture in our iiest is top notch because of our professors. The teacher student ratio is 1:18 and the exam in the institute are not very hard. There is one mid semester examination and a final semester examination. You can score a good CGPA if you study for 4 to 5 hours.

There is a lot of opportunities in this institute. Many companies like Microsoft, google offer internships and they provide a good amount of stipend. An organisation like ISRO, DRDO and HAL offer internships to the students in core branches. We may get internships in institutes like IIT, iisc . We may have to work on projects related to your degree.

Placement in our institute is very good. The highest package in our institute is 52lakh LPA. The average salary is around 9 lakh. Adobe, microsoft, Altalassin, tata motors, tcs, Cognizant, ZS Associate, Pwc, google etc. PSUs also visit our institutes like coal India, BEL. More than 70 % of students placed. But many students opt for higher studies in India and abroad. I opt for MTech in aerospace engineering after getting a degree.

The fee structure in iiest is similar to nits which are 62000 per semester and the hostel fee is 30000. Candidates having family income less than 1 lakh get full fee remission and candidates having family income between 1 and 5 lakh have to pay 2/3 of tuition semester fees. For sc, st candidates they get full fee remission. Also, there is a GAABESU scholarship for weakly finance candidates. Phd and mtech also get stipend.

REBECA, short for REunion and Bengal Engineering College Annuals, is the cultural fest of IIEST, Shibpur. Bengal Engineering College is the old avatar of IIEST, Shibpur. Rebeca is the oldest Cultural Fest in the whole of India. For an entire year, the students look forward to these 4 days of absolute ecstasy. Instruo is the Annual Techno-Management Fest of IIEST, Shibpur. It is the Largest Techno-Management in Kolkata & the second Largest in West Bengal. The infrastructure in our institute is not that good but in recent years we get funding from the central government to improve the infrastructure. We have the Ramanujan Central library having more than one lakh of books and journals. We have two grounds Lord and Oval for sports activities. We also run social campaign. We have a total of 16 clubs in our institute in different areas like dance, singing. Club are very fantastic.

The hostel in our institute is not that good but recently there is a complete renovation of all the hostels. Recently a new 12 floor hostel is in construction which helps in accommodation. The mess in iiest is good and the menu is chosen by the students and we have cafeteria and ice cream parlour. One can get easily a hostel if they are far away from the institute. Also, there are many PG hostels around iiest.
