Remarks
I belong to a business family and was interested in the management part since my 12th standard in commerce. I started preparing for the CAT exam in my last year of graduation and gave the exam. Without any break in between, I took admission in MBA at IIT Kanpur. I preferred IIT Kanpur since I was born in Kanpur. It has a good ranking as per NIRF. Basic admission pointers for the course are CAT scores and performance in the interview round. The admission fee was Rs.150.
Course Curriculum Overview
IIT offers 8 specializations for the students to choose from in MBA. Initially, I was a bit confused since IIT is a technical institute, and pursuing a management course can be a bit of a task but when I looked at the course structure, I was pretty impressed and satisfied with my decision. Although, there were no guest speakers the teaching methods and the level of knowledge of the professors were enough for our learning and understanding. All the faculty members were Ph.D. holders from Indian and foreign universities.
Placement Experience
Every year 100% of placements have been observed on the campus. In the previous year, 35 companies participated in the placements and 11 pre-placement offers were made. Analytics was observed as the major domain. The highest domestic salary went to Rs.62.28 LPA and the highest international salary was Rs. 1.54 CPA. Infosys, ICICI Bank, Tres Vista, Ford, GAIL Limited, IBM, Sapient, Reckitt Benckiser, Indiamart, HDFC Bank, Deloitte, Cognizant Technology Services, and many others participated in the placement week.
Fees and Financial Aid
Financial support to the students is an important aspect taken care of by the officials here at IIT Kanpur. There are ample scholarships available for the students opting for technical courses. This number is very less for the management students. Merit Cum Means Scholarship, Sports scholarship, External scholarship, and the education loan are the only options available for us.
Campus Life
My two friends went with me to IIT Kanpur in the same course. Therefore, I had loads of fun enjoying the little campus life though we stayed at the campus for quite a little time due to the pandemic. I attended each event, tech fest, and cultural fest of the college and participated in some of the competitions as well. I now feel that I have built a good network in these 2 years. The entire campus is surrounded by lush green gardens and an open areas.
