Remarks
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College is a college of the Delhi University, and just like every other DU college even here you can get admission only if you clear the merit cut-off based on class 12th results. I took admission in B.Sc(H) Mathematics and you need to have Maths as a subject in your +2 to get admission in this course. I come from a defence background and hence I got the benefit of the C/W Quota present in Delhi University. The improvement I would like to see in the admission process is that merit cut-off should be different for different boards, i.e, CBSE board should have a different cut-off, Himachal Pradesh board should have a different cut-off, Haryana board should have a different cut-off, etc.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose B.Sc (H) Mathematics because I am good at Maths and Maths is an evergreen subject, whose demand in the teaching industry is always high. The faculty : student ratio atleast in my class is below average according to my standards. The faculty of Delhi University is world -renowned and hence even in our college the faculty is very good, there teaching methods are decent. We have a Semester exams after every five months and our grades basically depend on it, the difficulty level of semester exams has gone down due to OBE( Open Book Exam) mode of examination.
Internships Opportunities
I got internship from a digital learning platform Inovalance Learning where I was a maths subject expert and my job was to frame questions and solutions for students studying on the platform. There was a stipend of ?1500 for working for two weeks.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements from the 5th semester. The placement rate is good for courses likes this B.Com(H) and BMS. I come from a pure science course, hence placement ratio is low for our course. Deloitte and Tata Consultancy Services are the prime companies that come for recruitment. My plan after getting the degree is to go for the IIT-JAM exam to get admission in M.Sc in an IIT.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is comparatively low than other universities for the same course because it is a government college. Scholarships are available for academically strong students and also for students whose financial conditions are not good. The college has a Placement Cell which is very active and it notifies students about the placement opportunities available, their is also an Internship Cell which helps students in getting internships and also provides additional courses and workshops for personality development and learning in-demand skills.
Campus Life
The campus has a beautiful infrastructure, air-conditioned classrooms and fully-equiped labs are characteristics of this college. The college also has huge library where you can find almost every book related to your subject, the canteen of the college is also large and hygienic. The only downside of the campus is that there is not a proper playground. The college has not many societies unlike other Delhi University colleges but it has some famous societies like KALAMKAAR and POLAROID ( Photography) society. Due to the pandemic no fests have been hosted till now during my time in this college.
