Remarks
JOSSA is the counseling platform where I cleared cutoff and get NIT Agartala I remember but in the second round, I got NIT Jalandhar. The process is based on your jee main/jee advance ranking and the cutoff ranking of the colleges. So I cleared the cutoff rank of NIT Jalandhar mechanical. Yes, there are reservation benefits. I got Obc category benefit where the cutoff rank is comparatively lower than general. Jossa counseling registration and choice filling start from June end and after the seat acceptance, reporting at institute my final admission done on mid-july. This is the data for the year 2018 now registration time vary with a different year.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have an interest in physics so I have opted and chose the Mechanical Engineering course. The faculty-student ratio of our batch is around 0.3:1 means around 30 faculty are available for 100 students in one batch. Most of the faculty are Ph.D. from top institutes like IITs. Teaching Method is good like some teachers are so good that they built your base and knowledge very well but few teachers only focus on theory and have no practical knowledge. 2 semesters are there in a year and each semester consists of two mid-term and one end term. The difficulty level is between simple-medium and it also depends on subject and professor.
Internships Opportunities
Companies that came for internships are Goldman Sachs offering around 50k per month, American Express, Standard Chartered, and many more. Most of the internship opportunities are for cs/it or circuital branches. In the curriculum, it is mandatory to do an internship in the 3rd yr so you can have an internship off-campus as well as on campus because there are 3 credits for the internship in the curriculum. Besides, there are minor projects in the 3rd yr and major project in the final year which is supervised by the mentor who will be the faculty of your respective department.
Placement Experience
Yes, In the third year companies came for hiring interns and In the final year, companies came for full time as well as intern+full time. So the placements vary from branch also. If you are from branches like Cs, It, Ece. Ice then you will have great opportunities and in a good number, some big firms like Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, American Express and many more like the list is very long with the highest package around 25-40 LPA to average 8-12 LPA. If you are from branches like mechanical, civil, textile, or related then the opportunities are less in no. in a core domain like companies like a hero, Hyundai, bosch, bajaj, reliance, etc. But there are limited companies that came in the core domain but in the non-core domain means IT consultancy, etc companies allow these branches also companies like oracle, textbook, ZS, and many more. So this year FY21-22 the placements are really very good. CS -IT these branches are 100% placed, ME, textile these branches around 70%. I have been placed in the core domain.
Fees and Financial Aid
For general and Obc there is one category where if your family income lies above 5lac the academic fees are around 70,000 and it may vary every year, if the family income ie between 1-5lac then fees for one semester is around 35,000 and below 1 lac it has around 12,500. The other category is Sc/St and a similar process is there starting from 25000. Yes, there are scholarships for students, the scholarships I have to know are all for sc/st students. Job opportunities are pretty good for a few branches like cs, it, ice,ece like big firms came like amazon, Flipkart, standard chartered, AmEx and many more. But for the core branches like mechanical textile, the core companies are not as much. This year FY2021-22 some good companies came like Hyundai, Bosch, Hero, few more. This year the placements are way better and more than any year for all the branches. I am from mechanical so I can say many big firms allowed core branches to sit and get hired like oracle, Accenture, Flipkart, and many more.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is very good. We have technical and cultural fests like Techniti Utkansh conducted at the end and start of the year around April and November. Bharat dhwani is also one event conducted around October. the environment is very good with a lot of fun, DJ nights, and technical events also like Robo war, etc. A lot of books are available and there is no such problem there is a good library. Classrooms are good step staired beaches ac digital board, presentation facility. The classrooms are good. Sports opportunity is also very good like basketball, cricket, badminton, athletics and many more have teams and went on trips and competition of various inter nit, iits. Besides there are so many clubs like dancing clubs Criminalz Crew, acting and nukaad Natak by bawre and Kalakar, technical clubs like for racing cars perianth racing team, and I can say every possible co-curricular activity there is different clubs and teams who participates regularly in national-level events also.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms for girls are quite congested as due to increment in seats they have converted 3 seater room to 5 seater and 1 seater to two seater but this year new girls hostel are under construction. Boys Hostel has two sector rooms and after 2ndyr it's a single sector. Food quality varies from hostel to hostel but on average the food quality is average. Registration has been done during the admission and it's quite smooth but they can mess sometimes in paperwork. There is a lot of restriction with girls' hostel timings. In your first year, it will be 6 pm may extend to 8 pm after 6-8months. In the second year, the timing is upto 10 pm. Coming late than these timing they impose fine on you. As the college is little our of city but can have pg around college but it may not be easy.
Other Applied Colleges
SGSITS | CS/IT
I prefer national level institute
