TUHIN MODAK's Review On Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College - [BCREC], Durgapur

Admission in Dr. BC Roy Engineering is through Jee mains, Wbjee, and lateral admission for polytechnic students. I took admission in the tfw quota(tuition fees waiver) there are about 5 to 6 seats in tfw in each course.

I chose CSE as I am interested in computer programming. Teachers are very efficient in teaching us. Great facilities are provided to students in games, studies, personal guidance by mentors. Even our seniors tend to help us and guide us through different problems and even provide classes to juniors (don't know about offline classes by seniors but they are taking online classes during covid situations). There are assessments frequently and as the college is affiliated with MAKAUT the semester exams are taken in the MAKAUT portal.

Companies like TCS, Capgemini, Wipro, Accenture, etc. come for placing students. Almost all departments students get placed but mostly the IT sector is the one with maximum number. The highest CTC goes about 4.5 to 5 L and the average CTC is about 3.5 L. About 80% of students get placed. Students are even well prepared to sit in an off-campus placement to grab a better option for their future.

The general fee for engineering is about 3.6L for the total course of 4 years. There are provisions for scholarships, not one but more than one. Students are informed from time to time about the scholarship examination taken. These exams reduce the fees burden a lot.

Sports like football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, etc are conducted and also training is provided frequently for mastering the games. There is even provision for indoor games in the club of the college. There is a music room in the college and a tech club whose membership is easy to avail and it provides various courses for free and even internship opportunities. Extracurricular activities are performed and students are urged to take part. Talking about the library there are many books, magazines, journals, articles from different genres. Library cards are provided to issue books and even course books are provided from the book bank.
