Remarks
To take admission in IIT, you need to clear JEE mains and advanced with a good rank. Last year for opting Engineering Physics the cutoff rank for males was around 10000 and for females, it was 15500. You can find the application form for JEE on the official site josaa.nic.in. JEE main generally holds twice a year(held 4 times in 2021). Registration for the first mains happens in the months of July and August. Registration for JEE advance'22 will be between 8 to 15 June. IF you quality JEE mains you are eligible for JEE advance. And if you qualify for Advance then there is a councelling procedure based on your chosen filling. IITs have 17% girl reservations. There is a reservation for categories like OBC, EWS, etc.
Course Curriculum Overview
Firstly I chose this course because this was the best course which I can opt-in IIT with my JEE Advanced rank (15959). Also, I was interested in physics and wanted to explore more. You can have a good career in research. After graduation, you can go for higher studies. The best part of IIT is you do not need to get a job in the core field means if I'm interested in software development then I can go for that also. Many companies (eg. Oracle) open for engineering Physics branches for SDE, Data scientists, Analyst, etc. In the 2020 batch of engineering physics, there were 31 students. The faculty is very well-versed and well qualified. The teaching methodology is also good. In the online semester, they provide notes, assignments, and recordings as well. We can do projects under Professors too. We have a Semester system, in which we have midsemester exam and end semester exam. Passing the exams are not so difficult. You can pass the exams, studying a few days before the exam.
Internships Opportunities
I'm listing the companies which open for Engineering physics and give that stipend like this: company name: profile: stipend. Oracle: Server TEchnology: 100000 Per month (PM) Public Sapient: data science and analytics: 45000 PM EXL: Business analyst: 30000 PM Goldman Sachs: Analyst 100000 PM Sprinklr: Software Developer: 200000PM trilogy innovation: SDE : 150000 PM DE SHAW: Software Developer : 200000PM MyKaarma : Data Archtect Engineer: 80000PM Northern Trust: Software Developer: 50000PM Mentor Graphics: Digital Design : 40,000PM wells Fargo: Software developer: 120000PM Digital insurance: Data science: 15000PM Amazore : data scirntist: 80000PM. Udaan: Software Engineer: 70000PM. The list is very long so I can't mention all but all the companies give good stipends and exposure.
Placement Experience
As Engineering Physics is a 5-year course, students sit for placements in their 5th year i.e. 9th semester. A total of 67 companies visited who were open for engineering Physics students for internships (and more than this for placements) in 2018 and gave a decent package. The number must have increased now. More companies visit for placements. I am listing some of the companies here- Oracle, Public Sapient, EXL, Amazone, Fundwave, Goldman Sachs, Uber, Salesforce, etc. placements were super fantastic in 2021. Placements 2020-21: highest package:28LPA, average: 17LPA; median: 19LPA I am interested in software development, so I'm preparing for SDE. Next year (i.e. my 3rd year) I'll sit as an intern in the SDE domain. And I'm able to manage both my academics and my preparation. most of the students (not just from engineering physics, from all the branches) do prepare for domains other than their core. It's all-out your interest. Once you get in here, you can explore everything.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is divided into three parts on the basis of family income: income less than 1lac: no tuition fee, income 1 lac to 5 lac: 35000 per semester, income more than 5 lac: 1lac per semester. (Engineering Physics is an integrated dual degree (IDD)course so we have a total of 10 semesters.) You can apply for internships off-campus on your own in the first and second years. In 3rd year big companies eg. Oracle, Amazone, Philips, Oyo, Goldman Sachs, Sprinklr, etc. Visit for Internships. You can grab a good internship and get paid by them. there are some scholarships eg Mech 97 Endowment for annual family income between 1 to 5 lac.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activity and social life are super awesome. Kashi Yatra: It is a three-day log festival encompassing the best of music, dance, literature, and art. It will happen from 1st to 3rd April. Technex is the technical fest of IIT BHU. happen in march consisting competitions related to coding, robotics, astronomy, business, idea and innovation, aeromodelling, etc. FMC Weekend: It is an event consisting of great workshops and competitions on Photography, Cinematography, Outreach, media, design, and animation. Games and Sports Council is very very active here. have facilities for Cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, handball, kho-kho, tennis, TT, hockey, acquatics, squash, athletics, badminton, chess, carrom, taekwondo and what not. Clubs for: music, art, literature, dance, robotics, business, design, etc. There is a word limit so I can't name all of them. We have a library as well. The Classrooms are big enough.
Hostel Facilities
Free wifi is available for every student. Rooms are double seater and triple seater for undergraduates which have bed, study table chair, Almira per person. Infrastructure is okayish. The rooms are tough old but no college gives you an opportunity to reside in a100 year old campus # mahal. I haven't been to the campus yet but according to my seniors, the mess food is too good, IIT BHU is famous for its good and healthy mess food. Food quality and taste are very nice, We have a Satvik mess too which gives only Vegetarian food. the food is really good. If you think hostel food is too bad then you must taste the food here. The mess fee is 12000 per semester.
