Remarks
The course eligibility is based on the marks of the higher secondary examination. You can take admission in English honours from any background whether you had science or commerce background in 12. The minimum criteria to fill up the form is you must have 45% marks in your HS exam. You will find the application form on the website name www.brsnc.in.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have got very good marks in English and I have an interest in English literature and later I want to be an English teacher in high school. So many reasons behind taking English as honours. We have nearly 70 students and a total of 8 faculties in our English department. So our student-faculty ratio is approximately 9 students per faculty. All of the faculties are qualified. Some of them have done PhD and some of them have done MPhil. The teaching method varies from person to person. But honestly, all of them have taken regular classes. Even when the pandemic hits some of our professors have taken classes online.
Fees and Financial Aid
We have to give fees yearly not per semester. In every semester we have to pay for admit cards only. For every year the fee is around Rs 3000-4000. So total cost in 6 semesters of college is around 12,000. College fees increase every year but very little amount. We have some good scholarships option like SVMCM and Kanyashree. You get 15000 per year from SVMCM scholarships and girls can also get the same amount from Kanyashree scholarships. To renew the scholarships you must have 60% marks every year of your college. And To renew Kanyashree 45% marks will be minimum.
Campus Life
The annual fest is one of the most attractive things in our college. Our college organized a fresher's program which is very much amazing and we have holi festival organized in a big manner by our student union group. Besides that many other programs like Netaji, Rabindra Jayanti, many seminars, teacher's day, Saraswati puja are organized. We have a very good library room in our college. I have got many English literature books from there. We can take a book home by using a library card. Our classroom is a little bit old fashioned but the room is quite big for our department.
