My Effective Engineering at IIT Mandi

Dreams do come true only if one dares to envision it. So true it is. I got IIT Mandi as my engineering college which was just a great flight of my life.

I received the seat of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering there as my percentile was 98 in the JEE Mains entrance exam with a rank of 1600. This rank made me get the seat of the CSE branch in the second round of the JOSAA Getting a good rank in the JEE Mains exam, I qualified for the seat in the very first round of the JoSSA counselling.

The course curriculum of computer science included topics like cybersecurity with undergraduate tracks in software systems and computer graphics with real-world scenarios. This knowledge provided by the course endorsed me a lot.

The college had a summer internship programme where all the applicants like me were allowed to take up internships. I also chose the internship and went for the program. The internship and placement worked on a tech-focused education which helped me score on internships. I not only secure employment but also was able to launch my career in the area of my choice.

All the Placement associated activities were handled by the Career and Placement Cell (CnP) of the institute. The CnP consisted of Faculty Members, Placement Officers, and student volunteers working round the clock to provide the best possible jobs for students like me. They helped me grab a very nice placement.

There were various enticing fests at the college. The Exodia was the annual techno-cultural fest of the college. Apart from that, the Aakarshan was the inaugural cultural event of the Cultural Society. Also, the Rann-Neeti was the sports fest of the college which was held in the odd semester and invited colleges from all over India to participate.

I had been admitted in the bachelor's degree course of Computer Science engineering which was a four years course and cost me INR 1,20,000 per year. These were the basic tuition fees along with which there were few minute charges as well excluding the hostel fees.

Being a Bachelor's degree student there, I got a Merit-cum-Means Scholarship of Rs. 1000/- per month and a tuition fee waiver was awarded to me 25%for being admitted under the B. Tech. and Dual Degree programs on fulfillment of prescribed Merit/Means criteria.

The campus life was the most amazing part of my college life. Engulfed with an immense amount of fun, I had experienced valuable life lessons here. Be it the great infrastructure consisting of the lavishing library, equipped labs, spacious classrooms, or sports club rooms, all contributed to an awesome experience of my campus life.

Since I was new there, I opted for the on-campus accommodation in the hostel at the college. The campus location was good. I also got plenty of amenities such as properly sanitised rooms, good food, equipment like bed, cupboards, table, chair and all. Also the staff there took great care of me which gave me a feeling of security.

The Alumni Association of the college was the organization that conducted the most important workshops and events for the college students like me. Be it the expert talks or normal conversations regarding careers, they helped a lot by sharing their valuable experiences of the corporate world.

There were two internal assessment exams in each semester along with quizzes and assignments. Then there were practical and lab exams after which the End semester exams were conducted after completion of each semester.

The faculties at the college were really far-sighted. They had a rigorous commitment to prepare the next generation of technology leaders offered a design-based education to me which also developed a multidisciplinary active presence in my mind.
