Remarks

You can secure your seat in Patkar if your percentage in 12th is above 70 at least for the open category. The Reserve category has a low cut off as compared to the open category, not very low but you can consider if you have above 60. This is regarding self-finance admission criteria. Also, there are scholarships for reserved and open categories respectively. So you can get half the fees to refund from the government if your income is below 8 Lakhs p.a. Before the declaration of the cut off list you have to fill out the application form which you'll most probably get at the entrance gate side counters. Application fees are less than 100 as far as I remember. You have to first get an application form, fill it there itself.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose BAF because of my Accounting skills. The college has the best faculties for all the subjects plus they provide personal guidance for future career too. Sometimes 2 subjects are taken by 1 teacher. Teachers have highly qualified always. Exams are conducted on time as college is autonomous now exams are conducted earlier than other colleges at times. The syllabus is not fixed. They add more chapters to a subject. Exams are not very difficult and definitely not very easy. If one is attending all lectures or at least have noted, then he/she can pass the exam smoothly.

Internships Opportunities

4

There were no internships offered by the college as such. I did my internship by myself. College faculty assist in getting internships by teaching in soft skills about how to find internships and how to write resumes and everything related just like finding a full-time job. There were other educational programs that will help in adding to CV like CFX ( Chartered Financial Analysts), NISM (National Institute of Securities Market), ISR (Institutional Social Responsibility), NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), etc. These are not internships but you will definitely learn and gain certificates that will help you get an actual job.

Placement Experience

4

Placement cells really do work hard to get opportunities for students in their final year from all sections. There were many reputed companies that had webinars in our college for placement offers like TCS, FinX, TNS. Many are placed into Sutherland in previous years and many of my friends got offer letters from Sutherland after interview rounds. The highest package each company pay is approx. 2-3 LPA. At least 10-20% get placement from college campus recruitment. My plan is to do PGDM along with a job or else another master's program with the job.

Fees and Financial Aid

As compared to other college fees, this college charges high. If you are not applying for a scholarship/ freeship, you have to bear the full payment of fees. For open category students, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scheme is the one on the Mahadbt portal. If you have a low budget I advise you to consider other good colleges because here everything has some of the other fees like Blackbook fees for no reason. Job opportunities are more. As college collaborates with various organizations, you have a great chance of getting into good renowned companies in Mumbai.

Campus Life

3.5

There is a various fest of various departments like BAF has PRAGYOTSAV, BMS has ALTIS, IT and CS have IGNITE, etc. Each department celebrates their fest one after another in fest week in the month of December. There are subjects as well as other books too for students which they can take home for 7 days and return back or extend the date. Benches, tables, whiteboards and also projectors are properly fixed. There is ample space and enough benches in the classroom. Ventilation is good. Sports is not much as the playground is not there in college. Patkar lacks in sports part due to its playground facilities. There are other extracurricular activities which include Tally House which happens every month for all departments, Avishkar for people who has their inventions and wants a platform to showcase them. Paper Presentation competition which has great value if at least participated or volunteered. There is no such social group by students but you can find Instagram pages for funny posts related to college.

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
