Remarks

I took admission in Venky in 2021 after cancelling twice from other colleges then secured myself a seat in the 3rd cut off with 97% in Biochemistry Hons. I got the application form like everyone else from DU's official website under the undergraduate portal. There were no application fees but I had to pay 2000 INR for cancelling my admission twice(1000 for each cancellation). The eligibility for the course is that you must have chemistry, biology and physics/maths in your 12th class and have passed eng with 50% grades or higher. Although I was a little worried if I could get into Venky as the cut off and my merit percentage were the same but then I asked one of the admissions in charge whose number I got from the college website and he encourage me to go for it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I always liked Chemistry and that was the reason I choose biochemistry so I could study the phenomenons and structure of molecules that makes us live. I am glad I choose Venky to be my college as the faculty staff is very good. The teachers are all understanding, very caring and taught us well about every concept. All are highly qualified PhD holders. They are very responsible and strict too if they need to be. If you take admitted to this course you will get two teachers per subject that will teach and guide you through your 3 years. The thing I Iike most about this college is that it always stands with whatever problem you are going through. They allot each student to a mentor so that we can share our problems no matter educational or personal with them and they give us suggestions and guide us for future career opportunities.

Internships Opportunities

4

Our college itself provides internship programmes every year under SriVipra. Teachers also frequently detail to us about the internships available. And about the recent activities, students are applying for the E-Yuva foundation for a fellowship for research.

Placement Experience

2

The placements for my courses don't matter much but there are many placement opportunities for BCom courses. The average package given was 5.3 lakh per year. You will get many internship opportunities. For placements, you have to contact the placement cell which regularly forward messages regarding open job titles, internships etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

I pay 14k per year as my fees with no additional costs. Although college provides scholarships too, we all generally get messages from our teachers about various types of scholarships such as INSPIRE. The college has its own research internship programme as well which is called SRIVIPRA in which students can participate and they might provide a stipend for the same.

Campus Life

4

Venky is very famous for its annual fest called NEXUS which hold every year and huge planning has been done. Many famous celebrities have graced the event with their presence notable mentions being Jubin Nautiyal, The Yellow Diary, DJ Lijo George, The Local Train and many more. This 3 days fest might be the biggest fest in South Campus. With this many departmental fests are also organised every year like AMALGAM, it was an event organised by Biochemistry society CATALYSIS, I was a part of it and the winner got huge cash prizes. The department of electronics also held its unique events. The library is quite good with two floors distinguished between arts commerce and science. It harbours more than 3 lakh books and you can keep a maximum of 4 books at a time for a period of 15 days. The classrooms have projectors that are sometimes used for teaching and are fan ventilated. Although no AC except in the seminar room. And there are many societies too which anyone can join.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
