Remarks
The admission process is not at all complicated. One has to just clear the entrance exam. The application form is available on the college website. The application fee may be between 800 to 1000. The college must have more of professional and integrated courses.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I had an inclination towards accounts. There are seven section in B.com. (Hons.)- Accounts, each section have 140 to 150 students. Most of the faculty are qualified, but some don't even know the subject they are teaching. The exam are conducted on semester basis, in between that there are mid sem exams too. In order to pass one has to focus on the quantity of answer and not on the quality.
Placement Experience
From semester 4 or 5 onwards students become eligible for campus placement i.e. they can apply in the companies which are coming for hiring the freshers. The companies which visit here for hiring are mainly from Ranchi itself. Some MNCs which came here were Deloitte, Wipro, Infosys and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. The job role mainly are for customer service, sales person etc. The average package is Rs. 2 lacs. Only 2-3% of total students get placement offers.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of the course hikes every year which is usual everywhere. The cost of study may range from 150000 to 500000 ( full three years course). The scholarship is available for the residents of Jharkhand only.
Campus Life
There is Xavier's Fest organised every year. Students can participate in the programme. It's not that cool as students think while joining the institute. One will only enjoy it by participating in this. The books and journals available in the library are too old, they don't contain the latest information. This creates a problem for the middle class students, they have to purchase the books from outside. The librarian is also very rude. The classroom are ventilated but there is a need for few more fans. There are sports and extra cirrcular activities round the year. There is a Rotaract Club, and few more clubs.
Hostel Facilities
There is one tubelight, one fan and four sockets provided in the room. The quality of meal cannot be defined in words. The most disappointing thing in the hostel is this only. The menu is also the same every week. The registration for the hostel is too simple. The accommodation charge is affordable, but the mess fess is too high considering the quality of the food which is served.
