Life at Chitkara University

Eligibility of the course was 10+2 from any government recognized school/institute. Application form for the admission can be found at official university portal, i.e. admissions.chitkara.edu.in At the same portal all details of applicaiton fees and application dates are available. There are no reservation benefits. Before pandemic admissons were taken on the basis of JEE rank. Since after pandemic was over, direct admissons are available. As far as I am concerned there is no problem in addmission procedure.

Since my 11th, I was quite interested in computer science and wanted to explore it more. So I chose BE-CSE in Chitakra University. It hasmore than 4000 students and 300 faculty . Teachers are always ready to help students anytime for their problems and doubts. Faculty is highly qualified. And their teaching method is quite acceptable by all the students. Teachers are quite understandable to almost all the students. Sometimes projectors are used for teaching certain concepts by all the teachers. We also go to labs when required. Term exams are held timely between the whole semester and at the end of semester. The difficulty level of exams was normal. If students listen to the classes properly then they'll face no problem in term exams.

There are many companies available for the internships of students. But 60% internships are without stipend, just for the educational and learning purposes. Companies like Delloite, Cisco, etc are available for internships, which can be stipend based or not. They give minor and major projects to the students according to their level. Projects like create budget for a project, data entry, social media analytics, etc. are given to the students involved in internships. Projects with stipend requires additional time of students to focus on the topic. And role like project head, event manager, etc. are given in this case. So it is a good experience.

Semeter 6th is the start of placements for the students. Students can apply for interview, clear it and get the placement. 100+ Companies like Oracle, TCS, Amazon, MakeMyTrip, PayTM, Flipkart, etc. visits the university every year & filter out deservable students for the placements. There are many offers made by the recruiters to the students based on student's capability and knowledge checked at the interview. Almost every student gets the placement according to their status. Highest package offered was 40 lac/annum by Microsoft and average was 7-8 lac/annum. Approximately 80 to 90% students gets placed. University assures that maximum of its students are getting placed. After getting degree if I didn't get the desired package, I'll pursue further higher education like M.tech in the same field to grab dream company. Overall placement structure is excellent.

BE-CSE course at this university is quite affordable. We have to pay fees in 2 parts. Firstly, half of the yearly fee before the start of semester(starting of the year) and half in mid-year for the next semester. Per year fees for this course is 140000 to 145000. I got the scholarship for coding test(hackathon) conducted by the university. There are various scholarship criterias available in this university. Since I am in 2nd year I didn't get any stipend based job. But I got with the internship and learned a lot. And soon I will be getting stipend based job also. We can get the job as soon as in our 6th semester after clearing the interview. On other hand, there are many stipend paid internships which a student can perform under guidance of teachers.

There is annual cultural fest like "Algorythm", tech fests like "Rangrezz" and many more events. Annual fest is generally conducted in December and Tech fests are conducted in august or september, depends on university. We have 3 large spacious libraries inside the campus. We don't need to buy any book for semester exams, since, almost every book is available in the library. We can simply issue them using our college ID card. Classrooms are big, clean, well structured and fully Air-Conditioned. There are projectors in the classes which are used by teachers for teaching. Class furniture, seats are well designed and maintained. There is a sports complex in the campus in the basement of "Kalam Block" building of campus. Though it is only for indoor games purposes, since it is small in size. But it has all indoor games. Social groups like dance club, singing club, sports club and many more are run by students. Interested students can choose their desired clubs.

Hostel rooms are quite spacious with 3 students in each room. But it would be better if there are 2 students in a single room. Two students rooms are available in different hostel but it is costly. There is a mess associated at the ground floor of the hostel. Food served in mess is of good quality with quite good menu of no boring food. Meals like Rajma, Rice, Dals, Chapatis, Egg curry, mix veg and many more are served on distinct week days. Hostel registration process was quite smooth. Simply go the official website and register yourself for hostel and pay the fee of around 25k to 27k. It was quite affordable. Rooms and PGs are available outside the campus at 300 to 400m distance. Sometimes PGs can be quite far from the university, since the university is located in quite isolated place(separated from the main city).
