GNDEC through my eyes

There is a special exam conducted for Sikh religion students and they are given preference over others. Also, there is a 10% quota for Gill donors( people who are living in Gill village). 80% of seats are reserved for Punjab state students in GNDEC and the rest are for other state students. There is also a fee weaver scheme in which the entire degree cost around 1 lakh. The preference of admission is through JEE Mains marks. There is a direct counselling method for which we have to apply online. In this counselling method, the seats are given to the candidate based on jee marks preference and we have to pay the admission fees+ semester fees there only to book our seat.

GNDEC is an autonomous College which provides a great teaching experience. The faculty is very kind-hearted and the college doesn’t put a lot of exam pressure on students. The answer sheets of end semester examinations are checked in college in self and the checked sheets are shown to students after result declaration. Students are given proper handmade notes by teachers themselves and there is a great discipline in terms of teaching method. Modern teaching methods like smart classes are also there.

A student in the final year that is from semester 7th becomes eligible for placement. The lowest package is offered by companies like Wipro and Infosys with 3.5 LPA and the highest packages are given to software developers in Samsung and Microsoft with 12 LPA. Around 70% of students who applied for placements get placed in the companies. I am planning to pursue my master's in business admission after BTech.

The fees for a non-hosteller student are around 4 lakh and for hostellers, it is around 5.5 lakh which is quite low for a professional degree. There is also a fee weaver scheme with 1 lakh total fees which a student can get only at admission time. There are various scholarships for SC/ST and also for students with less than 4 lakh family income. The special scholarship is provided for financially weak female students with good grades. Almost all the students are able to get on-campus placement with packages from 3.5 LPA to 12 LPA. The college also prepares students for aptitude tests.

An annual fest named Anand Utsav is held in the month of March every year in which a Punjabi singer is called for a day to entertain the students. This fest includes all the co-curriculum activities for students to take part in. Tech fest name hackathon is held every year in the month of October in which students display their technical skills through various working projects and models. Almost all the books and journals related to our course are available in the library and e-library of gndec. Classrooms are well furnished with all equipment needed to conduct online classes too. Sports and extracurricular activities are important for each and every student as they play an important role in our overall result calculation. A sportsperson is given cash prizes by the colleges if they represent the college in inter-university tournaments. Various clubs like ISTE, IETE, and the Cultural committee are there in which students can learn to organise and conduct activities.
