My experience

All the details regarding admission are available on the Panjab University website. If the students want to opt my college for b.com then they should at least score 80% or 70% with the quota. I had a defense quota which made my admission possible to this college. There are at least 5% reserved seats for the defense quota and it is very difficult for the students who Do not have any quota to take admitted to the Punjab University affiliated college the improvement I want to see is the lack of the information given to the students.

I personally choose this course because I always loved commerce and always had an interest in this sector and MCM is the best college for b.com students. All the teaching faculty are immensely educated and helpful you can ask the doubt after the class. The college takes exams according to Panjab University criteria for examinations. The students were supposed to score 35 marks for passing which was not that difficult as the paper comes from the syllabus provided by the University only if you have attended the lecture with attention and the mid-sem takes after 3 months of the new semester and every semester exam will take in 6 months.

The college has links with the major companies in India. All the interested students can easily appear for the job fest after submitting the fees which are mainly Rs50. There are several rounds according to the job profile as well as the company policy. But as per my knowledge, there is no project given to the students by the teachers but students do internships from the companies.

The college has its separate placement cell which is very active. All the interested students get a lot of opportunities for placements and the students above 4th semester can take them. But there are mainly placements in the BPO sector offered by the college which comes with a package of around 2-4 lakh, The college has links with all the major companies of neighbor states, and almost 40-50% of students do this job, as for me after my degree I want to do Master in commerce and go abroad for my job.

MCM is a semi-government college that comes under Panjab University, Chandigarh that is why the fees for the course is reasonable, which is 25000 year including exam fees. There is a scholarship provided by the college to the top 2 students. The college also provides administration jobs to the students in need and you can also seek 8 hours job outside the college and do an internship outside the college but the best source of income is with tuition that most of the college students give to school students.

MCM conducts the Meraki festival annually which is one of the greatest fests in the Chandigarh. In that fest for once a year, boys are also allowed to enter the premises so that they can also enjoy. Almost every book is available in the college library and if you want to purchase books you can go to Market which is very close to campus, There are a lot of sports activities happening in the college every day like basketball volleyball, etc. We also have a hockey team in our college that plays inter-college matches. There are NSS and NCC communities in our college and club-like as drama club, photography club, etc.
