Remarks
The admission was based on merit. A cut-off list is generated relating to the marks scored in 12th. For my course, the percentage of marks scored in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology was taken into consideration. The process to apply for the University and the college was simple. We had to first go through the DU admission website and fill out the form. When the cut-off lists were released we could simply apply to any college of our choice through the before mentioned website in just a few clicks. All the information regarding the guidelines, application fees, and dates were present on the same website. I got admission on the 3rd cut-off list. Since the pattern of admission has changed to being entrance-based now. The process would be a bit different for new students. But the things about the website would Pretty much remain the same.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I wanted to go into the research field in the future. This course has Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology. So, it creates a solid foundation for the future. You can go into a lot of fields for your masters. The Faculty to students ratio is fine. Not too bad, not too good. Around 40 students per teacher. But we had 3-4 professors teaching different portions of the same subject. So load on a single professor wasn't too high. All the teachers are well qualified and most of them are good at teaching. We have projectors in most of the classes and teachers sometimes use them to show videos and presentations. A few professors have the necessary qualifications, but they weren't so good at teaching and grabbing the attention of the students. The term exams happen at the correct time. The exams are a bit difficult, but if you regularly study and focus in your classes, you would be able to pass with ease.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements for jobs from the 5th semester but they can apply for internships even in the first semester. Many companies like Dolittle visit every year and a lot of offers are made. The placements mainly happen for Commerce and to some extent arts students, and students from other students rarely get placements as most of them go for higher studies The average placement is around 4Lakh pa but, it has gone up to 12Lakh and even higher at maximum. My plan after getting this degree is to do a master's in genetics.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are affordable and as compared to other colleges are relatively low when compared to the big private colleges it's low. There has been no fee hike yet since I have taken admission in the college. The cost to study isn't high as well. I didn't get any scholarships mainly because I'm from the general category. And secondly became the money you get from scholarships is very low. I didn't have any internships as well, as a first-year student there are very few things I could do in my field that would help me to get internships or jobs.
Campus Life
The Annual Fest of our college is Called Nexus. It's one of the biggest fests at Delhi University The college has a library with a lot of journals and books. It's neither too big nor too small. At the time of writing this review, the library sitting area has been under renovation for about 4 months, so only book issuing facilities are available for now. Most of the classrooms here are in good condition. They all have proper seats and fans are all in working conditions. Many of the classes are equipped with Projectors. There is an indoor sports area with Table Tennis, chess, etc. There's also a big ground with Cricket, Football, Basketball and other sports areas. It has one of the biggest grounds in DU. There are a lot of societies in our college for every aspect from Dancing, singing to movies, etc.
