Remarks

The college is overall a good experience. I think the fee structure can be relaxed to some extent. Otherwise, one can opt for this college any day.

Entrance Preview

There is no as such competitive examination to get into IIJNM, Bangalore. Admission is based purely on graduation score of minimum 60%. I qualified the first criteria and further gave an online examination conducted exclusively by IIJNM. There is no fix date for examination. As soon as you apply for this college on their website, you will receive a call from the college authority and they will direct you to the examination page. You just have to fill the paper and submit it. Those qualifying the written, the candidate is required to face the interview session. For students in Bangalore, a face-to-face interview is conducted and for those outside Bangalore, a telephonic interview is conducted. All those who qualify the interview round are selected for admission.I chose this college because it is one of the top ten J-schools in India.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is though hectic but informative. It really does carve out a journalist in each of its students. Apart from the lectures and assignments, students are really set out on field work to gather the real journalist experience. They work for their in-house portals/ newspaper/ channel. The Vice Dean of the college really did say on our first day, "Even if you are afraid of water, we, at IIJNM, will push you into water. You might suffocate in the beginning, but in the end, you will be a good swimmer.

Internships Opportunities

Since, it is a 10 month program, there is no internship included in our curriculum.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement cell is fair enough. Every year, the placement cell's performance keeps on varying. The placement tries to place each and every student but it also depends on students' performance. Top companies that come for recruitment are Times Now, Indian Express, Zee Media, CNN IBN, Hindustan Times etc.

College Events

5

Each and every Indian festival is celebrated in the campus. There's no as such event celebrated in our college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very expensive considering the short course duration.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees can be paid in installments. That's pretty much all that our college offers.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is too good. The college is situated in the outskirts of Bangalore. Therefore, it is surrounded by villages and farms. One can take a walk at night. Freedom is the foremost thing one can look for in the campus. Students from several parts of India come to this college. So the diversity is strong. It, therefore, encourages an interactive environment. Gender ratio is mixed. Generally, girl students are more than boys.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel is really good with spacious rooms, clean washrooms and small gardens in both girls and boys hostel. We also have basketball court that is also utilized for playing cricket by the students. There is no ac facility since Bangalore weather is mostly

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is strong. Faculties keep in touch with the alumnus. Even the alumnus keep visiting the campus on a regular basis. Juniors can connect to alumnus over facebook or phone. To strengthen students-alumni relationship, alumni day is held every year in the college campus and pass-outs from various parts of the country are invited.

Faculty

4

The faculty is very nice. They are all generally journalists who have flourished in their respective fields. There are visiting faculty too. The faculty board also include some eminent international journalists from Scotland, Japan etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements in the college are good for marketing specialization. Compared to other specializations, from semester 2 itself, students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Deloitte, KPMG, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank visit the campus. The highest package this year was 40 LPA, and the average package is around 6.5 LPA. The percentage of students getting placed is 70% for now. After getting the degree, selection in a good company is my plan.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered is moderate and there are limited opportunities for high paying roles compared to top tier colleges. Companies that visit the campus are mostly small to mid sized organizations. The placement cell is very supportive and conduct training sessions such as aptitude tests, mock interviews and soft skills development to prepare students for placements.

Placement Experience:

Placement in my college is decent, wiyh around 90% of students are getting placed. Students usually become eligible for placement in their final year and the college provides internships opportunities before that, which helps in gaining experience. Many companies visit to campus mainly from marketing and sales, along with some roles in HR and operations. The number of offer is good but option for finance and analytic are comparatively limited.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would like to rate the course 7 out of 10. Because as these is a distance learning many difficulties occur. I am doing a MBA in ksou after my graduation in b. Com. As ksou comes under UGT it is more helpful for the job seeker. As per my knowledge the faculty should conduct a more classes may be through online so that the working people can attend the classes from wherever they want. There are many distance learning courses in ksou academic platform but they are not handling in a accuracy. They take a lot of time to announce a results, even to conduct a exams they take a lot of time. The question paper are sometimes difficult and the question will be from out of syllabus which will be difficult to attend. Distance learning course is difficult to manage
