Remarks
Even though the environment is so good, the management lacks in many ways. Victim blaming in case of any odd situation is prevalent. No help can be expected from the management. Students in fact help each other.
Entrance Preview
SRMJEE, Rank - 21000. Great research opportunities with a fabulous lab facility. I opted for the course of Biotechnology and I don't regret it. The faculties are well versed in their subjects. The hidden costs are a lot though. They charge exorbitant amounts in the name of exam fees even though no exam is to be conducted in the final semester. This is the only ridiculous thing. Many cultural fests to keep oneself busy with. SAP or student abroad programs provided to interested candidates with A decent CGPA and with big fat pockets i.e only those who can afford are eligible.
Course Curriculum Overview
For research oriented field like biotechnology, I would give SRM an 8/10. But you need to stand out to get acknowledged. Teachers encourage students to join lab right from 2nd year so that by final year they have gotten 2 years of lab experience and can easily handle their major project.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, But no stipend. You work under a researcher or teacher and you gain only experience. The experience is hands on training along with subject knowledge.

Fees and Financial Aid
Yes. Academic scholarship is awarded every year and also before joining. Sports scholarship is also available. During enrollment, several stalls of banks will be put up from where loans can be taken.
Campus Life
Campus life is decent. Good security though it is suggested that girls avoid shady lanes post the setting of sun. Several extra curricular activities are encouraged. Singing and dancing clubs are also available. Environmental club is also present along with several informal clubs. There are academic clubs where in students can join after clearing their exam. These clubs participate in various national and international level competitions. Ver recently club RUDRA (mars rover) and 4ze (green automobile) won international and national level competition respectively.
Hostel Facilities
Initially, you can tolerate the food but as you grow older, you yearn for something new. Taste wise it is decent. Separate south indian and north indian counters.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni registration has become compulsory so starting this year everyone will be registered in the alumni network after paying a ludicrous fee of 1000 rupees. Most of the senior students are helpful. The campus is in an anti-ragging zone and any complaints can be filed with the DSA or department of student affairs.
Exam Structure
Regulations have changed but for our batch we had 2 cycle tests which were marked out of 50 and one model exam marked out of 100 and a final exam marked out of 100. 10% from each cycle tests were taken in consideration, 40% of model exam and 40% of the final exam.
Admission
I think in the month of december or jan the examination forms came out and the exam was conducted in april. The results were declared by end May and the counselling process started by June. Counselling is not as it sounds. You basically go and choose your stream and book your slot. In July the classes started.
Faculty
Most of the faculties in my department are well versed in their stream with an exception of a few. They are helpful but again, you will be acknowledged only when you show your true potential and interest.
