Remarks

the college has come long way in last 20 years. i am proud of my college.

Entrance Preview

when i took admission in the college in 1998 the college was under Utkal Universiity and i appeared Orissa JEE exam to get into. I scored 968 rank to get into Computer Sc branch. The founder of the college used to be a Head of the Dept in Computer sc in a reputed Govt college. He always gives main empasize on education rather than anything else. other than that i know some lecturers in the college who are very good at explaining things. This impressed me to take admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

during my time the courses available offline. we follow books and notes by the professors. they were too good and the classes they take consists of lot of research papers. they used to explain us in simple terms which were easier to understand for us. there are practical classes too.

Internships Opportunities

in my time they were not providing. not sure about the time now. the name of the college has risen to big nowadays.

Placement Experience

4

the placement was not good the year i have passed out due to IT slow down in the year 2002-2003. however few companies like TCS, PCS came for campus and they offered around 2.4L per annum package to the students. but after 2004 i have heard lots of companies used to come for campus every year and they have more than 80% placement in the college.

College Events

4.5

we had lot of fun too. we organised cricket , badminton, Table tennis tournaments. we had welcome function for new joiners and farewell functions for passed out batch students by the respective batches. we had annual function every year too. all students and professors were bound to participate in the functions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

there were 2 types of seats for rank holders that time. the higher rank holders pay comparatively less fee than the lower rank. they called it as free seat and payment seat. free seats used to 13k per year and payment seats used to be 42k per year. however this was 17 years back. things were changed a lot now.

Fees and Financial Aid

there was no scholarship offered when i was studying in the college. education loan used to be from the bank and college used to help students in getting that.

Campus Life

4.5

gender ratio was not so good in studying engineering that time so college has nothing to do with. it was 1:3 girls vs boys. however i have see that improved year by year. there are students from other states too in the college and there were no feeling of outsider. there are students from all religion too and we did not have any feeling about it.

Hostel Facilities

4

hostel facility was okay not great when i was studying as very less people were staying in hostel. the food was just fine. However the facility and food improved a lot by now. the hostel in now inside the college campus so its secured in all ways now.

Alumni/Alumna

this is one thing our college was lacking. the college did not have any alumni network that time. students used to have their own network to have get in touch with seniors for any help or other stuffs. However the college is trying hard to build a alumni net work now. we had college alumni meet in bangalore and hyderabad organised by college last year.

Exam Structure

the exams and labs are strict to be completed within the time but they are not very hectic. we used to have lot time for chill out in college campus. we studied in the college with fun along with knowledge. professors are very co-operative and flexible too

Admission

i got a rank in Orissa JEE that time. after the ranks are out the Utkal university used to call for a counselling session where all colleges under the university and all rank holder comes in. then they call student from high to low rank one by one and admission is given based on student's preference from the availability of the seats in college. However now the university has become autonomous so i believe they conduct their own entrance test.

Faculty

5

they were too good and the research papers used to be explained to us in simple terms and often they used to make the classes interesting by teaching thru discussion on the topic and everyone have to be involved in that. the professors used to make everyone complete their practicals on time and they make sure that students understand what they are doing in the class

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
