Entrance Preview

I tanked my JEE exams. I couldn't get into any decent NIT. So I joined KITS Warangal, which was one of the most reputed colleges in the state. It has very good infrastructure and decent faculty. My HOD, for example, is a Ph.D. from IIT madras. I opted for electronics as I thought it was exciting.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum was pretty arcane when I was studying. But now as the college has become autonomous and has come in slush of funds, The quality of courses has gone up significantly. A lot of modern courses with focus on modern programming languages such as MATLAB and R are bering introduced in my department. There was always a strong research focus and this is only growing with the increase in reputation and inflow of money. New labs are being built and Many PHD's joining as faculty.

Internships Opportunities

Rarely people do meaningful internships. Some of my friends did interns at Samsung and GE. Thats about it. I was hired for an internship at Myntra, Your sister company, which I didn't take up BTW.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements are very good. TCS,Infosys,Tech Mahindra hire from our college. Elite companies such as Amazon and GE also hire from our college. Usually the CTC is around 3-4 LPA. The highest salary went to around 9 LPA from GE and 8 LPA from Amazon for support engineer position.

College Events

2

There used to technical festivals for every department, But this year there will be one technical fest and one cultural fest. They are on Grand scale. The technical fest consists of paper presentations,Robotics competitions and other technical stuff. The cultural fest is on a very large scale with around 5000+ people attending people. When I was the head of literary club,I organized a lot of competitions. There were popular singer Baba Sehgal performing and a lot of regional stars attending and performing.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its around 80,000 for a year for B.Tech. Much higher if you are buying the seat. The fee is feasible considering the infra and other stuff. Its less for other courses which have smaller career prospects. There are a lot of scholarships available to students belonging to SC/ST/OBC community.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a lot of scholarships available to students belonging to SC/ST/OBC community. But other than that ,the prospects of scholarships is very low. Coming to loans,Loans can be taken by the normal procedure.

Campus Life

5

gender ratio is pretty bad. around 20-25% women usually except for CSE and lower for Mechanical. Labs are pretty awesome with goos equipment going in the tune of crores too. The parties seemed pretty boring once I started partying with my work friends at amazon. The diversity is pretty bad with most of the students being regional. Forget LGBT, Even hetrosexual couples are scared of openly roaming around. People of poor economic status make it our college, Mostly due to scholarships by the govt. Competitions were decent at start but by the time I left,There were a lot of good competitions such as Debates and number of technical competitions and workshops related to coding, robotics and networking. The literary competitions are few and need some more time to flourish.

Hostel Facilities

2

Many of the students are loacalites. Only around 15% of students stay away rom home or around 300 -400 stay away from home. The hostel rooms are pretty good with good electricity, water, hygeine and internet. The food is pretty bad from what I have heard. there was once a case where ther was a bug in a guys rice. I was once staying in friends room in the hostel and ate the hostel food. It was pretty bad,I can say.

Alumni/Alumna

The alums and senior students are not that helpful as other college's alums. But they might help you here and there. But all in all, The college solidarity and loyalty is pretty non existent.

Exam Structure

Academics is the toughest part about this college. There is no free lunch. You cant even pass Environmental studies without studies. People are failed even after writing decent stuff. Almost everybody fails an exam,Because the faculty is very strict in grading.

Admission

I got in through the State CET which was called EAMCET back then. My rank was around 8,000. The admission procedure was pretty simple. It started with counseling which was done at a few government colleges. After you got any of your desired choices, You went ahead and submitted documents and paid the fees.

Faculty

4

Being a Tier II college, The faculty is decent at best. But there is a very high proportion of very committed and qualified teachers who are willing to change that. My head of department for example is a Phd holder from IIT Madras. You will find a few like him but mostly everybody is a Masters degree holder or pursuing a Phd. Rarely will you find a Doctorate or a graduate from elite college. But all in all, There are a lot of good people without elite qualifications with a lot of interest in teaching and depth in subject.
