Remarks
Due to the pandemic, the admission process was entirely online. Regarding the entrance exam, there wasn't one; instead, the best 4 subject marks from class 12th were used, with a 2.5% deduction if the best 4 subjects included any subject other than the ones provided on Delhi university's website. In order to be eligible for BCOM(H), maths had to be taken as a required subject. For the general category, the cut-off for SBSC was 95% last and I was able to get admitted in the third cut-off. The process included cut-off eligibility, applying within the stipulated time and then a payment link if documents got verified.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the above course because I had an interest in accountancy, moreover I felt that the scope and exposure in BCOM(H) from DU is just unmatched and will provide me with a plethora of opportunities when I look forward to beginning my professional career. The faculty: student ratio is 1:13.33, as approx 600 students in one year of all courses and at least 45 teachers for the same in our college. The teachers are well qualified, many are doctors, quite a few have done their PhD or pursuing and they often work on research papers and participate in internal opportunities as well. The teaching method is not that rigid i.e. board, chalk notes; teachers aim to focus on extracurricular as well as try to take up examples from recent eras to make things easier to understand. The exams are held every semester i.e. after 6 months and around 1.5 months prep has to be there at least for the same.
Placement Experience
students become eligible for campus placements when they enter their 3rd year, i.e. 5th semester of the degree, in total we've 6 semesters in our course spread in a duration of 3 years. Many companies like EY, KPMG, Deloitte, Bain etc visit our campus. 30+ companies come to our college every year and more than 200 students get placed at these companies. The highest package offered till last year was 23 lakh rupees and the average package stays around 4.9LPA. For audit, it is around 5LPA for the majority of companies and for top-tier firms offering associate profiles it may go to 6LPA. Around 80%+ students get placed who apply for these opportunities. I wish to start my professional degree after my graduation and I've been placed for an audit profile at RSM US.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees were around 7.5k in the first 2 years and 10250 in the third year, the fees are different obviously for all courses and all categories of students, the above-mentioned fees is for BCom Hons general category student. The college launched a no fees for students whose both parents lost their lives in the covid-19 scheme when the pandemic was there, even this year the fee payment date was extended by 15 days so that the students have ample time to pay the same. Our college does provide financial assistance to the required students and also scholarship tests are conducted. Yes, the campus jobs are available with an avg package of 4.98LPA and the company witnesses a large number of companies coming to campus for placements as well as internships.
Campus Life
SBSC promotes extracurricular activities and learning outside the classroom, we have around 30 societies and clubs working for different purposes in the college. The annual fest hasn't happened past covid so not sure about that but these societies do organize offline college fests annually. generally, the society fest season starts around January and lasts till February end. We have a 2-floor library with around 200 students seating capacity which provides an ample amount of books and journals to the students. The classrooms have benches, markers, a duster, a whiteboard, fans, lights, type of a podium and electricity charging points for 2 sockets. Sports are given high importance, we have a sports room where we can find all equipment and we have a big ground where students play basketball, cricket, volleyball, kabaddi etc. The social clubs are NSS, Rotaract, Enactus, Women development cell, Girlup etc
