Good Placements

The admission process is mainly done through WBJEE, west Bengal joint entrance examination. Also, IEM holds its own exam IEMJEE. Also, IEM admits on the basis of JEE Main too. Based on their rank in these exams, eligible candidates can opt for counseling and selected ones can apply to the college using the rank they have achieved. Initially, the fee for the first semester is 90000 post and each semester fee is 70000. There are no reservation benefits from the college in terms of caste. But JEE ranking system incorporates reservation so the ranks are allotted accordingly. Students can also get admission using the process of management quota where one has to pay excess donations to receive admission to the college.

I chose ECE because this branch acts as a bridge between CSE and EE. I am an IT enthusiast so I can pursue my interests here. Also, some of my friends are interested in core concepts like VLSI, and IC fabrication. They can directly follow the course curriculum for the same. The courses taught in the college are quite old and non-updated. The faculty: student ratio is not that good. Qualification of the faculty is all right. Exams happen quite frequently and they are not that difficult to pass. The questions asked are well within the syllabus and they are asked from the given suggestions as well. The teachers in our department are extremely helpful in that matter.

We become eligible from the later part of the third year to sit for the placements as the companies arrive then. Mainly placements are dependent on service-based companies like TCS, CTS, Wipro e.t.c. who mass recruits a whole lot of students with standard 3.5 to 4 LPA packages. Product-based companies like Oracle, Amazon, and trilogy too visited the campus. Oracle recruited a few of the candidates, Amazon too but nobody could clear the trilogy's OA rounds. Oracle offered a package of 15lpa and Amazon around 22 LPA. But a lot of students applied off campus and the highest placement off campus was 72 LPA in Google. The placement percentage is nearly 100% which is mainly due to the fact of service-based companies. I too am interested in IT jobs so am preparing for the same.

The fee structure is essentially (70000 * 7) for the second to last semesters and 90000 for the first semester. I am presently studying without any scholarships but college provides fair scholarships to people with a lesser income to provide education to their children.

The annual fest of IEM is IMPACT and the tech fest is Cybertron. Tech fest happens in the month of April - May. cultural fests happen in the month of December. Only academic curriculum books are available in the library, No such journals I have seen in our library. The classrooms are not good. We have to sit on chairs with a board fitted onto them. There is no concept of benches. Sports and extracurricular activities happen but not so much on campus. There are a few groups like IEEE, IEM labs, and ACM-IEM societies that are run by college students in IEM. They are good societies that offer exposure to people in IEM.
