Remarks
The college holds two admission processes. One is direct admission and the other is through Punjab Technical University. I got admitted into the college through the direct admission process. The basic requirements held a compulsory appearance and passed the JEE exam and an aggregate of 70% PCM in your 12th. The application form can be found on the college website (gndec.ac.in) or directly searched on your search engine. The initial fee is around 1200 rupees and the dates for the applications are opened in august extending up to September. The college also holds special fee structures and eligibility criteria. Other than the SC/ST and OBC, the college holds a special reservation category for the residents of gill village Ludhiana. The only improvement I wanted at my time was that the college administration didn't mention that the fee submission after admission will only be in cash and no cheque will be accepted.
Course Curriculum Overview
Some personal interests and the college being popular for its core b-tech branches pushed me more to opt for this course. The colllege estimately has a 1:20 ratio of faculty members to students ratio. All the faculty members are PhD students with most of them already completing their doctorate. The teachers conduct online as well as offline classes with one-to-one interaction if the student got any doubts. The teachers always welcome the students for any doubts and issues. The college appoints a mentor for 4 years of b-tech, someone from the faculty member who always welcomes the students for any issue personal or professional. The college conducts two mid-semester exams on a gap of 1-1.5 months and at the end of the semester, End semester examinations are conducted. The exam question paper is a balanced one for someone who knows how to apply practical conceptual knowledge as well as bookish knowledge. Alongside the theoretical examination, the college also holds practicals & projects.
Internships Opportunities
Sonalika tractors is a major internship offering company with a stipend of 12000. Most of the students prefer doing internships on their own around their hometown. The basic stipend for any company's internship is kept not lower than 12000 from the college's side. There are major and minor projects whose outcomes are a big boon when talking about placements. A mentor is always provided for the tasks but the experience of doing the project on your own provides the biggest push for the outer world.
Placement Experience
The placements start for the students as soon as they enter their final year of graduation. Good companies like L&T RDC Wipro TCS Amazon Infosys Cognizant Shapoorji palllonji Denso Kirloskar group ACC Ultratech Samsung Honda Bajaj are some of the major recruiters who have offered a min of 3.5 LPA for core branches and a min of 4.5 LPA for the CSE-IT branches. The highest package was 51.04 LPA by Microsoft and many students got placed on a package of 12.08LPA 14LPA and 18.01LPA. The percentage of students placed ranged from 60-62% on average as a GET, Trainee, Intern, Quality analyst, HR, or Software Developer. I plan to opt for a handsome on campus placement after my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
So for the past two years of my being a student, there hasn't been any such questionable hike in the fee and cost to study. In a very decent amount we are being provided good condition lab equipment, smart classes, AC labs and other than this there is just a little charge of heavy electric appliances if used in the hostel. The college provides with various scholarships like scholarships for gursikh students, scholarships for SC/ST students and Alumni scholarships. The on-campus placements are quite appreciable as the college offers a good internship and job opportunity with a basic stipend of 10000-12000 and a basic CTC of 4.5LPA. Many renowned companies have visited the college for hiring freshers and last year the estimated count was about 800 placements.
Campus Life
The annual fests of the college are called ANANDUTSAV and GENESIS. They are held in the months of February and April. Tech fests are more of repeated tech exhibitions that the college organises. All the course-related and other literature books along with journals and research papers are available in the college library and more information is provided in department-wise separated libraries other than the college central library. The classrooms are oldskool with a touch of modern technology. The college is a boon when it comes to extracurricular activities. Every branch in the college holds at least 2 societies each. The college whole holds a training and placement cell run by the students under the mentorship of a TPO and other than this various other societies and clubs, There are inter-year as well as intercollege competitions every year and other than this there an annual sports meet as well. All the societies are headed by students with guidance from a faculty member.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are above average with a caretaker being for constant guidance. The basic necessities are provided. The mess food is quite good in taste with reasonable price. The menu is set by a committee formed by the students called the mess committee who work under the mentorship of a mess manager. The registration for the college is done once you are done with the admission process and the final payments are made only in cash at the college itself. The fee for the hostel is very affordable with the mess being a corporate one and the price being nothing more than 3300 per month for a three-time meal that includes 2 paranthas or 4 bread in the morning with tea/milk/coffee, and rice chapatti and dal in lunch and a vegetable with dal roti and dessert in the dinner. The extra expenses are 7000 rupees servant fee that is paid every semester. Although I didn't opt for a PG there are a bunch of them right in front of the college, so there are all the basic facilities provided.
