The admission process is very smooth to be very honest, and there is hardly any hassle involved in getting admission into one of the best colleges in the country. The whole process, however, can be made more online and thus, faster.

I chose Computer Science and Engineering, because I have genuine interest in coding, and AI/ML to be specific. The faculty-to-student ratio in theory classes is 1:40 on days with average attendance, and 1:15 in lab classes. The faculty are, needless to say, one of the most qualified people in their respective fields, that too with many years of experience not only in teaching but also in research. The term exams are timely enough, though the communication can be slack sometimes for the internals. The exams are high quality and require a smart application to get good marks.

The internship scenario is not as bright as the placement scenario though, primarily due to the misalignment of the course curriculum of the second year with the knowledge needed for internships, and also due to the very small window for internships, we have here at JU. However, the research opportunities more than makeup for it, and one can work on a project under any faculty member, all of whom are very friendly and helpful.

Students are usually allowed to sit for placements from the beginning of the 7th semester. Students from CSE bag placements at almost all of the FAANG companies, while some even get placed in very high-paying startups. International offers, too, are very common. The highest packages, when converted into Indian currency and the PPP not accounted for, are usually in the range of 1 to 1.25crs per annum. The average placement is around 20 to 25 LPA. Everyone who decides to sit for placements gets placed here in JU BCSE, though a sizeable number decide to opt for higher studies and/or research.

Srijan is the tech fest of Jadavpur University, where we have various competitions ranging from coding to mystery. Sanskriti is the annual fest of our college, and we have a very elaborate itinerary, though, without any very big names, the fun is unparalleled. Classrooms are very spacious, and as per current developments, all classrooms in the BCSE department are going to get air conditioners. There is hardly any sport you can't play here in Jadavpur, from football grounds to cricket pitches, you have it all. We also have a mountaineering club, a photography club, a coding club, music and dance clubs, and a lot more.
