Remarks
Admission process was through a seperate entrance exam SRMSAT. You have to apply for the the exam on the portal for an exam which is conducted online. The selection process on the basis of rankings of the SRMSAT result. After the results are out, counselling sessions take place in the campus, and on the basis of rank, the appropriate stream seats are available. One step that should be improved in the admission process is that the counselling sessions should be done online and should not require any physical presence.
Course Curriculum Overview
Mechatronics is a course that is not offered in many colleges in India. The main focus of the course is automation and robotics. I chose the course because the batch strength for my stream was less and the course curriculum was very interesting. There were around 160 students in my batch and roughly 30 teachers. The practical part of the curriculum could have been better, exams were conducted quite regularly in the college. Every month exams were conducted but the questions were almost similar to every year's paper. Clearing the exams was not as difficult as it seems.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities through college are minimal. It should be improved to a higher degree. Only a few companies offer internship opportunities through college. Many new startups offer internship opportunities for the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of the college as compared to all the private colleges in India are high. There has been a gradual hike in college fees over the years. Due to the high number of students in the college, there has been a decline in the quality of the companies for campus placement. Although many students get the placement, the process should be rigorous.
Campus Life
Annual fests of the colleges are organized at a greater level. Classrooms are spacious with proper ventilation and air conditioning. There is room for improvement in sports. Cultural and extra-curricular exposure is immense in college. There are numerous clubs in the college to make you highly exposed to a wider culture.
