Remarks
The admission for BTech courses takes place through Josaa/Csab counselling, which is held after Jee Mains examination. The minimum cutoff percentile is somewhere around 96 percentile for general students and then, reservations are there for different caste categories and female candidates.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it was one of the few options available, I had after jee exams. Also, I gave priority to college over a branch. The average class ratio ranges from 80:1 in the first year to 110:1 in subsequent years. We also have tutorials for special attention, which are taken by Mtech and Phd scholars which has a ratio of 20:1.Most of the faculties have done PhD in their fields and have a long experience of research in their fields. However, the teaching method varies largely, depending on the respective faculties. There are both mid-term and end-term examinations in a semester and being a post covid batch, the examination schedule is quite hectic. Also, it can be a bit tougher to score high grades without proper preparation.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are provided mostly in your core branch only. For non-core internships, you have to apply yourself. However, the stipend for the internship has been as high as 2.5 lakhs offered. However, internship opportunities are very limited.
Placement Experience
There is a placement cell available on campus, for which students are eligible for internships from the 5th semester onwards and for placements, from the 7th semester onwards. The companies visiting range from Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever, TATA and many more core and tech companies. The highest package offered is 64 lakhs by Apple and the average package varies according to branch, in the range of 8-15 lakhs. The percentage of students getting placed has always been higher, from 60% - even more than 90%. My plan is to get placed, as soon as before finishing my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college fees for general candidates are somewhere around 90k-1lakh for each semester. However, you can get a fee concession if you fall under the below 1 lakh category or even, below 5 lakh category, i.e. you have to pay 17% and 1/3 of fees respectively. Apart from this, various national and state-level scholarships are available, which can be availed easily.
Campus Life
College life is pretty great, considering the fact that MNIT is situated in heart of Jaipur. There are two major fests: Blitschlag, a cultural fest held in February and Sphinx, a tech fest held in October -November. There is also a large central library, with a large number of books as well as a reading space. There are almost all kinds of sports available like cricket, football, basketball, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, chess, volley ball, etc. Most of the clubs are run by student bodies themselves and even, fests are managed by student bodies only.
Hostel Facilities
There are 9 boys hostels and 2 girls hostels available, on campus, with availability lying between 300 -1500 students. Some hostels are very old, built in the 1960s and many are newer, with all modern facilities like LAN. There are shared messes for 2-3 hostels, for smaller hostels and personal messes for large mega hostels. Meal quality with decent with the menu changing for each week or the month and is governed by the student mess committee. The hostel is given as an option at the time of admission and asked again, for consecutive years. It is easily available for students of other states and foreign domiciles. Then priority is given to students of other districts in Rajasthan. The students of Jaipur sometimes find it harder to get hostels because they get the lowest priority and are allotted, only depending on the availability of vacant rooms. The hostels are triple seaters for the first year and single rooms are allotted from the second year onwards.
