Remarks

Direct admission is applicable in this college so I got into this college through direct admission. Some documentation and verification were required with some government proofs and 10 and 12 mark sheets.

There are teachers for different departments and the teachers are very friendly and clear concepts from the basics. Even non-tech background students can ace technology if they are really passionate about it.

There are internship opportunities available where experience in corporate sectors and you can even apply for internships off campus and even on campus. The internship provides work experience and through the internship, you can also get jobs.

Placement Experience

Yes, placement is available with decent packages even job opportunities are available through exams and there are companies like Google, Microsoft, itel , etc. The highest packages of 32+ LPA and an average of 8lpa are provided.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is fixed as said during the admission process, it doesn't change in the middle of the semester. There are scholarship opportunities and student loan is also allowed. Internship opportunities are also available from 3rd year.

There are many clubs. Sports clubs, coding clubs. It is not as strict as school and the experience of college life is quite good. Tech fest and events also take place besides functions like Holi festival and Diwali festival.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Insights of SNU

There are a few private colleges present in Kolkata which provides biotechnology but in my opinion the labs of those colleges are not as well furnished as ours. There curriculum is little different than ours. I didn't apply to any other colleges apart from Snu for biotechnology I sat for an online exam .And I cleared the test. Once you get a call you visit the college campus meet the faculty and the faculty may take a type of interview session The addmission process is smooth. But sometimes the staff members of admission makes blunder. My classes were about to start from 17 August, but they called me during July( because she didn't know that biotechnology does not fall under para- medical and made a mistake and for her mistake I had to suffer as I'm not a resident of Kolkata)...Read More
