You have to rank within 3500 GMR rank in WBJEE to get the opportunity to get into the Information Technology Department of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College. Then you have to sit in online counselling of the WBJEE board. After counselling, you have to come to college and get admission, and this time you have to pay the admission fees. And yeah, there are reservation benefits in the admission process. There are reserved sits for TFW(Tuition fees waiver), SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PWD. There are no criteria for high school marks for admission.

I chose this course because I was interested in IT background and I am also interested in programming. The faculty of this course are friendly and good. Overall all facilities are good enough, the teaching method is also good. In Information Technology Department there is a 10:1 ratio between students and faculty. Coming to examinations, we are having our internals and semester exams. The difficulty level of the examination is medium according to me. Students have to attend class regularly and have to maintain 70% attendance. There are marks for attendance which added to semester marks.

The college placement has improved in the last 3-4years. Students from the 6th semester are eligible for campus placements. There are placements a lot of companies visited every year, The students get placed in companies like Amazon, Cognizant, Erricson, Rakuten, Media.net, etc. Almost 96% of students placed this year. The number of placed students in Non-core branches is more than in core branches. last year the highest package offered was 44 LPA and the average package was 14 LPA and the lowest package was 3-4 LPA. After getting the degree, I planned to get placed in a product based in a product-based company.

The fee structure of the Information technology Department is much higher. In 4 years of B.Tech. Program the course fees is 1,30000only which is higher than other departments. There is also scholarship program like Half fees scholarship, full fees scholarship, and alumni association scholarship for poor but meritorious students. The Alumni Association Of JGEC is always there to support students.

According to me, You can lead the best campus life at JOLU. Our campus area is very big and environment friendly. And firstly I want to tell you that you can enjoy the beauty of Kanchenjunga from your college hostel. The weather and natural beauty are just awesome. The annual fest JECLAT is one of the biggest cultural festivals of North Bengal. And SRISTI is the techno-management fest of our college. And in tech fest, there are many tech competitions and quizzes, form where students can learn a lot of things and also theses competition has prize money for each. There are a lot of books in the college library. There is a facility of GYM in campus. Different types of sports like cricket, football, volley, badminton, and basketball are played here. There are lots of club like Music Clubs, Dance Clubs, Photography Clubs, Drama Clubs, Sports clubs, and more. Classrooms have boards, benches fans, and some rooms have projectors.
