Remarks
Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is the most prestigious college for West Bengal students. You have to give the West Bengal Joint entrance examination to take admission. For general students, the cut is around 2000 general rank for CSE/IT. There is also caste reservation. Application forms for this exam generally release in December-January.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is too good for an autonomous College. Professor and faculty members are really good and friendly in manner. Beside Information technology, all other branches have more than enough faculty members. Professors are also well-educated.
Internships Opportunities
For noncore branches I mean CSE/IT internship opportunities are good. Students get internships in the 5th -6th semester with a good payout. Generally, students do web and app development for projects. Faculty also helps with projects.
Placement Experience
From 7 semesters students are eligible for campus placement. TCS, Infosys IBM, and many more companies visited the campus. Around 80-90 percent of students get placed. My plan is to give Gate examination and go for M tech.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is bad to good. For the information technology branch, the fee is a little bit high. Except for this fees for all other branches are low and payable for all the students. College also provides scholarships for poor and Meritorious students as full and half fee waivers.
Campus Life
The campus is very good. As it is in North Bengal you will see the mountain, kanchenjunga view. Is located beside the highway so traveling from home to college and vice versa is also good. The classroom is also good and has projector facilities.
