Joy and study

I can not say that my college is excellent but it's good and better than many colleges of its kind. College management was excellent for sure.

IIT JEE, I scored about 197 marks and got imu, Always wanted to explore the world with decent salary so joined merchant Navy.

Course is excellent there with excellent professors and lectures.research facility was not there by any means. Faculty member were good and helpful to make us understand the subject and the life too in the difficult time. Passing marks in the each subject is high, it is 50%. According to me it should be little lesser about 40% in my views.

Yes they arrange campus placement for us so we can join a company and get paid by the company during the training onboard.There is no other stipend.

Placements in there is not excellent but good.50% of us got placement in the campus itself when we were in our last semester. World's leading companies like MAERSK LINE and MSC used to come for campus. Those who did not get the placement from the campus have to go out and search for the opportunity by themselves. College used to give us reference to the companies so they can at least allow us to appear in their interviews.

We celebrate international maritime week, safety week, arrange workshop with other colleges, and the other festivals like Diwali, Holi, pongal, Ganesh chaturthi, Tamil new year, and rajni sir movie too with our local friends.We used to do ship visit to Chennai port and also the beach cleaning in every semester to keep our beaches clean for the tourists.

Fee is high for the students like me who comes from a lower middle family whose father Isa farmer. It is a central University but still the fee is so high. Yearly we have to pay about 225000/- for four years. This includes hostel and workshops fee together with tution fee but have to pay examination fee about 5000/- per semester.

As long as I was studying in the college, there was no any scholarship or loan facility provided by the college but shipping corporation of India had provided 48000/- of scholarship for below poverty line students what I have availed about 2 times.

The campus life was awesome of course. Don't even talk about gender ratio because there is not any ratio. Girls in merchant Navy is like eid ka Chand.we had only one girl cadet in our batch of 80 students. Student diversity was fantastic because we have all India in the campus. There was no any politics in the campus environment. We had yearly festival of games like imu Olympic and it is of two type. First we used to organize within the campus and then we invite other colleges.

Hostel was newly built and we'll maintained by the administration of the college but the mess food was as usual like other colleges in India. Sometimes we don't even able to eat the food. Normally​ we had South Indian and North Indian food together because of the variety of students in the campus.

The was no alumni network because the the course I was in was new but the senior students were good and helpful in all aspects of the college life which made our life little easier. In the beginning there were little ragging too but the seniors were not harrasing anybody.Tyey used to make fun of the people only those who enjoy that.

we have mid term exam with semester exams. 90% class attendance is necessary to appear in the exams so it is hectic but the labs are fun. So many assignments we have to do in there which used to feel hectic sometimes otherwise it's chilled out.

I got admission in IMU Chennai on the basis of marks I got in the IIT JEE entrance examination this is what the criteria that time but we had to fill a particular form for the University too. We shortlisted according to our marks and then there were a counciling in Mumbai where we have been allotted the colleges in the University according to our shortlisted rank.

Faculty in there is good and most of them are cheif Engineers or Captains what we need to understand the course in better way. Swimming pool, play ground, workshop, lab facilities are good too with fine lab facilities used to teach on the basis of their working experience at sea when they were sailig out there in the sea. It is always fascinating to hear the story together with knowledge.
