Remarks

For the engineering courses, you need to qualify with a good rank in the wbjee exam which is a yearly exam usually held in April. Physics, chemistry, and mathematics are the subjects that come in this exam. You can go to the wbjee official website to know the details and structure of this exam. The Wbjee exam only takes place in west Bengal but the students can come from all over India. The student outside of west Bengal are called non-domicile students and the student from West Bengal themselves are called domicile students. There is 90% of seat reservations for domicile students and the rest 10% is for nondomicile students. Only domicile students can take benefit from the caste certificate and the non-domicile student will be considered the general student. The caste reservation for domicile students are SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and the other reservation is for PWD students. And there is also a TFW reservation for those students whose family annual income is less than 2.5 lakhs.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I choose the mechanical engineering branch because from this branch I will be able to get PSUs or on-campus placement in the tech field also so I would have that variety the choose the career which suits me. Here the faculties are amazing they are highly qualified and most of them are Ph.D. holders. Monthly class tests are held by the professors and the test is not that hard. You need to study at least 1 week before the exam.

Internships Opportunities

4

Amazon, Deloitte, TCS, and many more companies offer internships with stipends. You have to be active to grab a good internship from the campus itself. You can develop your coding better and do some work on amazing projects to the attention of a recruiter.

Placement Experience

4.5

From the seventh of the eighth semester, students become eligible for the placements. Most of the top companies visit for recruitment every year like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, etc. The highest package was offered by meta in 2022 of 1.8 cr and the average package was 12.8 lakh in 2022.

Fees and Financial Aid

The semester fee is just 1500? and about 12000. for the entire 4 years of engineering. Lots of scholarships are there but the most demanded scholarship is the SVMCM scholarship in which you get 60,000 per year till your engineering is completed. You can check the scholarship details on the svmcm official website.

Campus Life

5

At Jadavpur University the fest called "SANSKRITI" is held in the month of May. There are libraries in each department building and a dedicated central library of more than 6,46,296 volumes of books. There are lots of clubs in which you can participate and the sports facilities are also too good.

Interview Experience

4.5

In the third year of college, you can get an internship and in the final year, you will get placed by clearing tech round, group discussions, and interviews. The topic of group discussions is "The Impact of Social Media On Our Lives" and "Things That Inspire Your Creativity". I prepared for these with the help of my friends and seniors.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
