Remarks
The admission is done based on JEE mains rank. I applied for a 4-year Btech course. I applied through the JAC Delhi Website which conducted joint admission for dtu, nsut, igdtu, iiit Delhi then, it now takes admission for dseu as well. Initially, I got IT in the first round, which then upgraded to computer science. You can find information related to dates, and fees on the JAC Delhi website. I want the application process to be fast as in my case it took over 2 months.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course because I have an inherent interest in computer science and this college is pretty famous for its placement in the computer science branch. The faculty-student ratio is pretty good here though it is hard to find good professors who teach from basics. Most teachers read from ppt or some even don't take regular classes. In the end, we have to study from youtube videos though some professors are knowledgeable. There are two main exams mid-term and the end term per semester with 2 class tests held between them. If it is a practical subject then there is an extra practical exam before end term. The remaining marks are through the assignments and sometimes attendance.
Internships Opportunities
Approx 100+ companies visited the college for an internship this year including Microsoft(1 LAC stipend), Google (1 lac stipend), sprinklr(2 lac stipend), salesforce(1.2 lac), uber(1.5 lac), adobe(1 lac), mykaarma(80k), morgan stanley(1lac), goldman sachs(90k), wells fargo(90k), samsung(50k), media.net(1 lac), nivedia(60K) and many more. I have not been able to secure an internship though I interview at PayPal, Samsung, MasterCard, sprinklr, etc. The preparation is usually through DSA and core subjects.
Placement Experience
Students are presented with an internship opportunity from the 5th semester onwards with many students procuring PPOs and some even doing step interning from the 3rd sem onwards. Approx 100 companies visited for internships and 300+ students got offers. In CS-related branches approx 50 percent of students got offers. 200+ companies visited for placements and 800+ students got offers. Approx 70 percent of eligible students are placed till now. The highest package being 60 lacs and average being 15 lacs. I plan to land a job and work in a top MNCs and then I will start a startup.
Fees and Financial Aid
For a general student, I believe it is a costly affair with more than 2 lac fees per year. Though there are scholarship schemes for students having less than 8 lac per annum income. Every year the fees increase by 10 percent approx. There is a state government-based scholarship that has 3 brackets. 1. Below 2 lac 2. 2- 5 lac 3. 5-8 lac There is also a merit scholarship that is given to less than 1000 air-rank students in JEE mains. I have currently not got an internship offer though I have appeared in 5 interviews i.e college have provided enough opportunities. Internship offer ranges from usually 50k to 2 lac per month.
Campus Life
Campus life is one of the best things in NSUT with the annual fest Moksha held usually in march and the intra-college fest innovision being held in October or November before Diwali. There is also an ethnic day cultural fest which is held two times a year and is organized by Junoon, the photography society of NSUT. NSUT has a fully AC library consisting of 2 floors that contains relevant books though they are closed on weekends. Classrooms are pretty standard except APJ complex which is the biggest and most modern with full digital facilities. There is a good sports culture, its administration is run by Mr Praveen Saroha, it has football, badminton, basketball, cricket, tennis ground in the college and regular sports events are organized. Our teams have won accolades even in other college meets. There are many socities, dance society Capella, dramatics society Aswamedh, robotics society ares, racing society BHS, philosophy society Axiom, debating society Debsoc , entrepreneur society.
Hostel Facilities
There are 6 hostels, 4 for boys and 2 for girls, and 3 more hostels are now built for DASA students. The room size is small with a tube light, chair, and bed provided by the hostel. The room is damp and not suitable to live. The food quality is horrible with some students even getting sick because of the poor quality of food and water. The menu is diverse with different food provided each day. Students can apply for a hostel through imsnsit.com. Nowadays hostels are mostly given to only outside Delhi students. The rates are reasonable for mess but for the room, it is overcharged.
