Course Curriculum Overview
My course was mechanical engineering which is considered to be one of the toughest. My funda behind choosing this was physics being my favorite subject. The faculty ratio is not that good with around 150 students sitting in one class at a time, although the faculty members were highly qualified with most of them having done research in foreign colleges and universities. There are two exams each semester- mid-sem and end-sem exams. The difficulty of most. of the subjects in mechanical engineering is quite high and passing them required sleepless nights. Overall the experience was tough but very insightful
Internships Opportunities
There are lots of them. companies visiting the college for an internship with roles varying from sde, product, analytics, and core jobs. Stipend ranges from 10 thousand to 2 lakhs per month. I did not sit for internship placements but there are vast opportunities available
Placement Experience
Placements at IIT bhu are the best amongst second-gen iits and 90%+ students get placed in their final year. The profiles of jobs offered include sde, analytics, consulting products, and core jobs. The packages offered are also very good and I plan to pursue the job I have gained from college.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees used to be submitted semester wise which was divided into two different fees- the academic fees and the mess charge. Academic fee depends on the annual family income of the student with 1lakh+ for income over 5lpa. 33% of the total fee which is around 35k for income between 1lpa and 5 LPA. And no tuition fee for income below 1lpa. There are numerous scholarships that students can avail but only a maximum of one scholarship can be availed by each.
Campus Life
Campus life at IIT is very good as we have an open campus which is a part of the and there are no rules of timings at hostels and we can leave whenever and wherever we wish to. There is a multitude of clubs here ranging from technological, and drama, to sports with each club holding its events and along with it our annual fest Kashi yatra. Talking about infrastructure, most of the buildings here are very old but some new buildings have been made. Classes or not at par with what you expect them to be. Students can take part in any major sporting club they want to.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels at IIT bhu are very old with the exception being the newly build hostels for first and second-year students. Rooms are double occupancy for seniors and triple occupancy for juniors however the mess food is the best amongst all of the iits. It has a vast range of options available daily with a specific mess dedicated to Jain people
Admission
- To get admission to IIT BHU one needs to appear in JEE mains and advance, application form for those can be found on NTA's website and after clearing the mains cutoff, jee advanced form can be found on the website of whichever it is conducting jee advanced that year. The application fees were nearly 1000. And the dates for the first mains exam are around December or january. I did get the benefit of obc quota while admission to get into it but.
