Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is well-structured and industry oriented. Computer science is one of the most valued courses these days, so I opted for computer science and engineering. Faculty-student ratio in our college is around 1:12. Almost all the professors are Ph.D. holders and their teaching depends from professor to professor, but almost all the professors are very good and solve student problems both inside and outside the class. If we follow the lectures regularly, it is not at all difficult to pass the exams in our college. The minimum percentage to pass a subject is 35. So almost all the students easily pass exams.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies visit the campus for offering paid internships to the students. Some of those companies are microsoft, google, oracle, qualcomm, barclays, razorpay, texas instruments, wells fargo, american express, tata steel, bajaj auto and many others.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible to sit in campus placements from the 7th semester. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, google, Qualcomm, Intel, wells Fargo, American express, texas instruments, Oracle, Samsung, Barclays, bajaj auto, tata steel, and many others visit the campus. So far the highest package offered is around 51 lakh rupees per year and the average package is around 12 lakhs per year. More than 90% of computer science students are being placed in the past few years. I personally want to have an industry experience for 1 or 2 years after my degree and then I want to pursue my MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure at NIT Rourkela is as follows: For SC/ST students and students with annual family income of less than 1 lakh rupees per year have to pay around 35,000 per semester. Students with annual family income between 1 lakh and 5 lakh rupees per have to pay around 65,000 per semester. Students with annual family income greater than 5 lakh rupees per year should pay 1 lakh per semester. Foreign students should pay 3lakh rupees per semester.
Campus Life
Campus life is very good. The technical fest of NIT Rourkela is Innovision and is conducted once a year and the cultural fest of NIT Rourkela is Nitrutsav which is also conducted once a year. Almost all academic-related books can be found in the library and more than 10 copies of each book can be found. Classrooms are pretty old and are not so good but labs are well equipped and are renovated from time to time. NIT Rourkela is famous for its club culture. There are around 50-60 clubs in nit Rourkela. One can find clubs related to coding, music, dance, literature, cooking, finance, and many more where one can find like-minded people there where they can learn and grow together.
Admission
If you want to get into NIT Rourkela B.Tech. course, you need to appear for JEE mains exam and should score a decent rank in it. One can apply for JEE mains by registering online and all the further steps will be informed by authorities through mail or a sms. If a student is availing of any reservation benefits, then he/she must submit valid certificates during the admission process itself.
