Course Curriculum Overview
The faculty: student ratio in our course is great, as the number of seats in electronics is just 20. The teachers at our college are one of the most qualified and experienced as compared to other colleges. The main problem is the internal assessment and practical marks, as the teachers are very strict regarding this aspect. The teachers are supportive of both academic and personal problems. The college also provides great research opportunities.
Internships Opportunities
The college has its placement portal 'ignite'. Many internship opportunities come there both without stipend and with a stipend ( ranging between 1k to 15k per month) but the reality is no company or organization contacts back when we apply for their internships.
Placement Experience
The placements are one of the few things which are very poor for our college. The placements usually happen only for B.Com(Hons) and B.A(Hons) Economics students. In science courses, if you write a research paper or do a research project, then there are high chances of getting placed just after graduation else a master's is the only way to get a job.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are very low in the whole DU as compared to other universities. The fees for science courses in our college are 26K per year and it is 20K per year for humanities and commerce, the fees are hiked by 2k every year i.e for the 2nd year in a science year, you have to pay 28k and so on. But still, the fees are very low as compared to private colleges which charge up to 1 -1.5 lakhs every year. Scholarships are also there for meritorious students and students belonging to not well-to-do families.
Campus Life
The college has one of the best crowds. The college annually conducts its fest known as' Lashkara'. There are many active societies and clubs both for social services like NSS and NCC as well as for extra-curricular activities like dance, music, and drama societies, and almost all of them are student-run with just one teacher as a convenor. The library has a good reading room and there is a good number of books. The classrooms have ACs but most of them are not functional. The college has a huge ground which offers a variety of sports facilities.
Admission
The admission was based on class 12th board examination marks. The cutoffs were very high not just for our college but for all the other North campus colleges. The first cutoff for our course was 97%, while it was even 100% for courses like B.Com(Hons), B.a(Hons) Eco, and B.Sc(Hons) Phy. The application form is released every year on DU's official website. Our batch is the last of board exams admission, as now CUET is used for taking admissions in the colleges under DU as per the NEP.
