Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because IMT is one of the best colleges for studying marketing. The faculty: student ratio is around 1:15. The faculties are well experienced having PhD degrees as well as some of them have relevant work experience in various disciplines. They are equipped with both knowledge and industry experience and adopt various methods including practical and class teaching to impart the same to the students. The exams happen in a timely manner and the difficulty level was moderate. The marks division is made including class participation, quizzes, projects and end-term exams. It is not difficult to pass the exams at all.
Internships Opportunities
Companies from sectors like FMCG, IT, Analytics, Consulting, Consumer durables, Finance, etc visited for roles like Product Management, Consultant, Sales, Finance, etc. The big names include Reliance, VIP, Perfetti Van Melle, Mondelez, NatWest, Cisco, Wipro and many more. We can also do other short-term projects with companies during our MBA.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for summer placement from 1st semester. Numerous big companies like Nivea, Microsoft, Adani, Marico, and Credit Suisse have visited the campus. They offer profiles in core sales, core marketing, HR, project management, product management, and brand management. The percentage of students getting placements is 100%. The highest package was around 60 LPA( international) and 36 LPA(domestic). I plan to do a job in the marketing field after my MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are around 19.5 LPA and it includes hostel and mess fees and tuition fees. IMT offers various scholarships, for example, financial help, to academic scholars, girls, etc. Merit-cum-need scholarships, upto 25% fee waiver given to girl students. The internship and job opportunities are very good at IMT. The average package for the batch 2021-23 was around 17.35 LPA. The companies come on campus and offer various interesting roles in marketing, finance, HR and operations.
Campus Life
There are many fests at IMT like Chakravyuh, Passion, IMTheFuture, etc. They are usually organized from December onwards. Passion is the annual college fest. Chakravyuh is the annual sports fest. Both of them are organised on a huge intercollege level. The Library at IMT has hundreds of books from various disciplines and also an online portal to access books. The classrooms have necessary amenities like AC and Projector. The campus has football, cricket, basketball, tennis and badminton courts. There are many student-run clubs like Markup, Alumni relationship cell, Make a difference foundation, Consultancy club, etc. Students can select from various clubs and committees once they begin their session.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are equipped with air conditioners and are well-ventilated. The mess fees are included in the total fees and a variety of cuisines are served in the mess to cater to a diverse group of people. The food is hygienic and good in terms of taste. Hostel rooms are allocated on the 1st day when the students come to the college and it is done on a random basis. All the basic necessities are readily available on the campus itself and since the campus is situated in the heart of the city, the markets are within walking distance.
Admission
The application form can be found on the IMT website. The eligibility depends on many factors such as CAT, XAT score, academics, work experience, etc. The cutoff is usually 90-92 percentile in both CAT and XAT. Other than that, if one has exceptional work experience or an exceptional profile like a State player, National player, some very distinct or unique strengths, are also shortlisted. The whole admission process was very smooth. IMT does not offer reservation benefits.
Interview Experience
I took a Written Ability Test and a Personal Interview test for the admission process. The topic that was given to me was related to privacy and how it is becoming redundant in the age of social media. The word limit for the written test was 500 words and the time limit was 30 minutes. The interview is taken by faculties as well as alumni. The interview normally is of 10-15 minutes duration. The questions varied from person to my knowledge. I prepared for these rounds by taking professional coaching.
