Honest review on IIM Bodh Gaya

I have selected subjects in Operations, marketing, and strategy in the Final year of my MBA. The faculty is very good in the operations domain. Even we have guest faculties for some subjects from IIM Calcutta and IIM Banglore. We can select the subjects in the final year of our MBA as per our interest from any domain. It gives independence to the students. IIM Bodh Gaya has the highest strength in the marketing domain. All the professors are very well-known and good at teaching. All the faculty are Ph.D. and the teaching methodologies are different for different teachers. All of the professors teach us through various methodologies such as role play, case studies, quizzes, simulations, projects, and presentations. Exams are very tough and focused on conceptual learning. Most of the papers are case-based and open-book. There are 6 terms during 2 years of MBA along with an internship.

There are many companies visiting here for Summer internships and most of the guys get a good stipend. I have done my internship in porter and received a stipend of 1 Lakh during an internship. The regular recruiters are BNY Mellon, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Hindalco, Dalmia Cement, LenDenClub, Compton and Greaves, McKinsey, V-Gaurd, Tiger Analytics, WIZ, Park+, CRISIL, and many more. I have even given interviews to top recruiters like Microsoft, and JusPay for a product manager role. The highest stipend for our batch was 2 Lakhs for 2 months. Whereas ICICI Bank has paid 1.7 Lakhs for 2 months. Roles are offered in every domain. But most of the roles in SIP are offered for sales and marketing. IIM Bodh Gaya audits the report every year which most of the third generation IIMs do not.

Almost all of the students get jobs on campus through placements. For our batch 2021-23 the fee was 13 Lakhs whereas the average package for our batch is 16 Lakhs. There are very few guys (1-2%) who opt-out for their own start-ups, family businesses, or any other personal issues. All of the students get mentorship and placement assistance through professors for every domain. This year 50% of the offers are made by banks and financial sectors. Top recruiters were ICICI Bank, ICICI Securities, HDFC Bank, BNY Mellon, and IDBI Bank. Kotak Mahindra Bank, SBI Capital, Delloitte US, Reliance retail, Vovo-Eicher, Hindalco, Amazon and many more. One of the luckiest guys in the batch got a 48.5 LPA package and was offered the role of Chief Operations Officer. The average package for the top 10% batch was above 24 Lakhs. Whereas the top 25% and 50% batches got an average package of 21.81 Lakhs and 18.79 Lakhs respectively. Also, the top 75% of the batch got a package of 17+ lakhs.

The fee structure for my batch was 13,00,000 with a 25,000 refundable security deposit. This was including the hostel fees for living. But we have to pay an extra 5000 per month as a mess fees. We have to pay 2-2.2 Lakhs per semester according to the fee structure for each semester. Most of the student's avail of the education loan facilities from the campus branch i.e. SBI Bodh Gaya. Along with this, there is financial support given by the college for students having an income of fewer than 8 Lakhs on annual basis through the Need-Based Financial Assistance Scholarship. The placement is 100% and almost all of the guys get the job on-campus except a few who opt out for their own businesses or any personal reasons. Faculty give mentorship to each and every student until he gets placed. So, students should not worry about financial assistance and job opportunities. The only thing is they have to work hard and gain the knowledge & skills.

We have Elegante as an annual fest and also we have a flagship event of IRC as Model United Nations (MUN). In this elegantly renovated stars perform on the stage. The event was fun this year. All of the clubs and committees arrange different events right from cultural to domain-specific quizzes, games, case study competitions, sports, etc. All of the nearby colleges come to the fest to participate. The library is very small as the campus is still in the temporary stage. But the new campus is almost ready to shift. Even few classes are taken in new buildings. But it is not 100% functional as construction is going on. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with projectors, boards, and good seating arrangements for students. Even we have E-Cell (Entrepreneurship Cell), International Relations Committee, and several other committes. Clubs like finance club, economics club, operations, marketing, etc. All the clubs and committees as active and run by the students.

Hostels are temporary right now as the new hostels are in construction but the hostels are good. We have water, electricity, internet 24x7. Also, there is the HMC (Hostel and Mess committee). This committee convey problems of the students to faculty. Also, they are decision makers for mess menu and mess menu is decided on monthly basis. This menu is mailed on monthly frequency. And it contains veg and non-veg both the items. The quality of food is good and affordable. We have breakfast, 2 meals and snacks daily. Mess charges are 5000 per month. We have compulsory rooms as the programs are residential so nobody can live outside of the campus without permission. There are washing machines in the hostel for washing cloths. Also, there is a washer-man visiting twice a week in the hostel. Though, there is no any air conditioned room available in the hostel right now. But all of the rooms in the new campus will be air conditioned as per proposed campus.

Admission is done through the CAP round declared by 9 IIMs simultaneously. Each year the cut-off varies according to the CAT aspirants. The list will be declared by CAT conducting IIM and individual IIMs as well on their websites. IIM Bodh Gaya will declare the list of eligible candidates on the website www.iimbg.ac.in. According to the list, all of the candidates have to go through the interview round as per CAP. All of the IIMs conduct this process simultaneously. So, the candidates have to appear for only 1 interview for all of the 9 IIMs in the CAP round.
