The overall information of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College

The faculties are well qualified and have a decent experience in teaching. Moreover, they are very supportive in all fields if any student wants guidance for further studies they always show them the path of how to achieve the goal. Our college conducts two internals in each semester which is quite easy to score and the questions set in the semester exams are also of moderate level. A student can score well if he or she regularly attends classes.

Google step internship is provided for female students in which they have to work on several real industrial projects. Urban ladder internship is provided for 3rd-year students and the Amazon internship which is open to all students.

The average placement at our college increased rapidly in the last few years. 5-6 years ago the average placement was 5lpa but as of now, it's almost 9lpa which shows the increment level of enthusiasm and hard work by both students and authorities. The students are allowed to seat in the campus placement for 6 semesters. Various big companies like Amazon, Media .NET, Goldman Sachs, Netmeds, and many more companies visited our campus last year. And for core, companies like Tata Power, Haldia Petrochemicals, L&T, Adani Group, and many more companies visited last year. Around 95 percent of the students got placed last year with the highest package of 48lpa (Microsoft).

The fees for the non-core department i.e. CSE, ECE is 62k for 4 years and 1lakh for the IT department and the core department 40k. Moreover, it is easy to get the SVMCM scholarship if he or she gets the college in the same year as passing the board exam. For the droppers to get the scholarship is quite difficult. Moreover, the Full Fee Waiver scholarship is also given to students who don't get any scholarship and have a poor family background the college authority.

The campus has full of lush green and a pollution-free environment. It has a large campus of 160 acres where students can completely enjoy their campus life. Moreover, the annual tech fest SRISTI and cultural fest JECLAT are also organized in our college where students can show their talents and ideas. Our college has one of the largest libraries of any other government college in west Bengal where students can get books for both their academic studies and further studies. Also, there are lots of clubs in our college which encourage students to follow their passion for studies. The college organizes annual sports day, inter-college sports meet, dance competition, quiz competition, and coding competitions to continually sharpen the skills of students.

The hostel room for 1st year and 2nd years students is quite big than the 3rd year and 4th year hostel. Students are provided two times meals in the hostel in which 3meals chicken,3meals fish, and 3meals egg are served in a week. The quality of food is average, neither very good nor very bad. In one room 3 students are allotted in the hostel but in 4th year a single room is allotted for every student. The hostel campus is full of an evergreen environment and pollution free.

To get into any government college in west Bengal a student must be west Bengal domiciled. Students have to clear West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination with a rank up to 6k to get into my college for the General category and 10k rank for OBC,15k rank for SC, and 25k rank for ST. The application form registration starts in December and the application fee is 500 rupees for general students. And 400 rupees for OBC SC and ST candidates.
