Remarks

I believe, the standard of college is not upto the mark now a days which used to be in our time (2000 year) It was one of the top renowned college but due to lack of long sight from the management it is losing its importance and lusture today's generation

Entrance Preview

I did take Odisha JEE (OJEE) in 2000 year i got 333 rank at that time i was much inclined to IT because it was a new branch and booming though many govt seats in other top colleges in Odisha (Burla Engineering College, NIT Rourkela) are available, I opted to choose NIST because it has IT branch.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The college management is very strong and strict we never faced any raging the teachers were too good study was beyond par compared to other colleges apart from regular engineering courses we were taught Japanese (foreign language from the first year itself, students were taught about TOEFL, GRE a lot more initiatives were taken like hosting national seminars, national competitions, etc i would rate 3.5 out of 5.

Internships Opportunities

Well, for one semester I was offered internship not everyone would have this chance a student who performs best was awarded with this the stipend was 1200 Rs per month (during 2002).

Placement Experience

3

I was placed in Jataayu Software via college campus prior joining to Jataayu companies like TCS, Wipro, Kanbay came after my selection in Jataayu lot more companies like Satyam, Motorola, Zenith, etc came however I was not allowed to seat in them i was offered 1.8 Lakh in Jataayu.

College Events

4

Technical many technical conferences, competitions, seminars were being held cultural annual day celebrations which included many social, cultural shows including fashion shows, dances, singing, etc we used to have monthly newsletter published in college. Some of my poems were also published this newsletter covers everything like what is happenings in college what are upcoming technologies, etc kind a reader's tech social monthly digest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee was feasible in our time we used to pay 18,000 Rs per year in 2000 this was for general students however there were students who joined college via management quota they paid a lofty amount to college and joined but they had appeared JEE exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

For poor bright students some scholarshipsloans were there i never opted for them, nor did any enquiry about it.

Campus Life

3.5

Yes, It was fun having extra curricular activities we had many competitions in sports, debates, programming, robotics students were encouraged to participate in all.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel faciltiy was ok not so great even food is of not great quality in our days in 2000 year i recently saw a huge improvements have been made related to all infrastructure.

Alumni/Alumna

We have an alumni network however I'm not following it I even today receive college journal to my mails.

Exam Structure

Exams and labs were very frequent we used to have internal exams after we finish each chapter we used to rate every teachers as usual semester exams and lab exams were there.

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
