The entrance in ISM Dhanbad was through IIT JEE earlier.Recently there have been some changes in the admission examination which I am not aware of but I am aware that the entrance examination for ISM is the same as that for any other IIT.

Our course curriculum is good and each department has its own separate laboratory to conduct research and gain practical experience. The laboratory and machinery present at ISM are rarely available at other institutes in India which is evident from the fact that even companies like CIL and Tata Steel send their employees to ISM to gain practical exposure to some of the machines and learn its usage.

The college helps students in getting internship. It invites reputed companies to campus which select students for internship after an interview or written examination or both.The stipend is variable depending on the company. Stipends in some of the companies in oil Industry go as high as 70000 a month,while there are also companies which provide around 20000.Internship was not so good experience to be honest as they made me go to not so well organised company and there they treat a fresher like they own a newbie.But my second company was i guess Aegis and that was a fab place to be for a trainee. And then came a surprise when i got a chance to take part in summer internship Tata steel.

placement is phenomenal. Some of the companies that visit our college for recruitment include Shell,Shlumberger,Rio-Tinto,Facebook,Microsoft,KPMG,DRDO,Samsung, Accenture strategy,CIL. Tata Steel,NMDC,Adani group, Reliance Industries,Jindal group, Mu Sigma, etc.The highest international package is 52 lakhs per annum offered by Rio Tinto. The domestic highest is 26 lakhs, offered by Schlumberger. The lowest package offered at ISM is 4 Lakh. The average package is around 8 lakhs. The college boasts 100 % placement.

The biggest event is the technical cum cultural fest organised at ISM. The event is really huge. More than a thousand students from different colleges across India visit ISM to participate in various events and celebrities like Mika Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Jal band, VJ Ranvijay Singh, Simon Webbe, etc have been roped-in in the past to perform. The budget for the fest goes as high as 30-40 lakhs.

The fee structure is quite feasible.

The loan facility is easily available at college.During the induction program itself SBI opens a stall at our college to provide loan to students interested. It is a very hassle free process and takes just a few minutes.And about scholarship i do not know.

The gender ratio is one area where our college lacks.On an average there are around 30 boys for each girl at college.And our college is acquiring new land adjacent to the present campus,which would nearly double its area. Massive construction activities are ongoing in the existing our campus. ISM is home to the Geological Museum, the Seismic Observatory, a Data Processing Laboratory, the Long Wall Mine Gallery and the Remote Sensing Laboratory. The Central Library is automated and provides services seven days a week, catering to more than 5500 users belonging to 17 departments and centers. The library houses 80,000 books, 8000 Ph.D. thesis and dissertations, 35,000 bound volumes of journals etc.There is a campus-wide fiber optic internet connection and Wi-Fi network, which covers all the departments, teachers' quarters, and students' hostels. There is a central computer lab and computer labs in each of the Departments.The events such as workshops, robotics, case studies, debates are organised as competition during the annual fest and the fest of different departments (Mechanical, electronics, Mining, etc).

The senior junior relationship is one of the best in the country.Seniors often give treats to junior and juniors never have to spend a penny if he is with a senior. Seniors are helpful and the strong ties built at college continue beyond life at ISM.
