Entrance Preview

I gave the Common law entrance test(CLAT)in 2014 and Symbiosis entrance test in 2015, I had cleared the cut off for symbiosis hyderabad for the third list but did not wanted to study away from home plus the fees was too much. I took admission in kes only because I did not get admission in any other college and very few colleges in Mumbai at that time had come up with the 5 year course thing. I took up law because I was not academically good at mathematics.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Law is about reading. You are not expected to know everything by-heart but one should know how to go by the bare act and find the best suited solution at times implied in the statue. It develops a habit of reading and and somehow by the end of course if you've read adequate amount of acts and what are their purposes, you easily know about the loopholes and be protective yourself. You can connect more with the newspaper. Each one may have different interest, some may find litigation lucrative while others may want to work as in house counsels. But nothing can begin without reading. These 5 years teach you to read, understand and interpret laws.

Internships Opportunities

No, they don't. I think because they are new to it, It'll take sometime. You have to search it yourself. In the initial 3 years you can read and form your opinions and write research papers for a number of people online and one can also intern in firms as well as proprietary law offices. Big firms will never provide you quality work. They will usually give you research work but as a beginner accept what you get. One should apply for small ones as there is lot of work and responsibility you get there which makes you learn a lot

College Events

3

The college has a in house fest in the beginning comprising of debate, moot cort, ad lex etc which is a good initiative to give a chance to those who do get to represent the college. They have celebrations like teachers day, twin day, Bollywood moot court, traditional day. Participation is also good at college level. Around feburary they have a intercollegiate fest organised. Teacher's & students take efforts in organising the same.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was around 15k but since they have ugraded their infrastructure they have increased it to 25k. It is feasible as the college doesn't charge anything apart from it. The fee structure is inclusive of the charges for the library. They have decent library. One can also give suggestions as regards the books they want in the library. They have a book exhibition annually where they place all the new books for display. You can even read law magazines once in a while they have around 2-3 subscriptions

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides exemption in fees for sC, ST and OBC but not any other scholarship or loan facility for students.

Campus Life

4

Campus is big in the new building but you cannot use phones there. There are no societies and the forums also do not demark their work because there are less number of people, so be it any forum you can be given any work. I was a part of legal forum and I had got the job serving breakfast to the guest. But as I mentioned the the number of people are less so you need to co-ordinate. They have freshers party, annual day organised every year where one can perform. *workshops and guest lectures are actively held Some are good & interesting some are boring and long but incase you miss any guest lecture your attendance for 7days is cancelled*

Hostel Facilities

3

There are no hostel rooms and pg's available because the college is located near the station which is a crowded market place. The food is okay-ish. I have never tried everything but heard it from others. Carrying your tiffins would be a better option any day.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are fewer in number and can be approached for books or asking as to what material to refer for studying for the exam. The seniors for my batch were not very conversant, only few I talked with explained about their internships and what careers they are looking forward to.

Exam Structure

The exam is okay. Mumbai university has more of answer writing pattern which actually makes you a perfect mugger by the end of the course( no doubt that the job of remembering or even writing 4-5 pages answers is also difficult) but there is a very little effort for the growth of our aptitude towards law. I feel instead of long answers they should have complex situation based problems. So that students take the effort of reading and understanding the law to write solution for them. Most exams have adopted this approach which makes it easier in practically dealing with laws.

Admission

The admission was simple back then and was based on 12th percentage. Since the college was new very few people had applied and so there was no such thing as cut-off. I had to submit the zerox attested of 10th std marksheet. 10th std passing certificate. 12th marksheet. 12th leaving certificate. A D.D of around 15,000 which may have risen by now

Faculty

3.5

The faculty was good. Some teachers took efforts to keep it interesting by quoting cases and live examples happening around on the subject, some only sticked to the material which made it very plain. But I have always been a self study kind of person and so I believe the material can be easily accessed by some who wants to study law. Lecture s do help for the ones who have not developed interest in the subject.

From 4th Year of the college the student is eligible for a pre-placement offer, main placements happen in the Final year i,e. 5th year. Companies that hire majorly are Tier-1 and Tier-2 law firms, like AZB, Khaitan&Co. Average package goes to about 15-16LPA. My plan is not fixed yet, but I aim to pursue SEBI or RBI law officer exam.
