Remarks

I liked the campus greenery and auditorium which is one of the finest in India. Our university needs to focus more on research based learning. The faculty and the students need to work together and more harder to produce better results. Management is a bit slow, it needs to speed up to complete tasks and provide better service to all.

Entrance Preview

I took IIT JEE exam after my 12th Class and scored a low rank of 1 lakh 10 thousand. There was peer pressure on me for going to Kota (Rajasthan) to prepare again for an year and scored better next time but I thought it would be wise to take up an engineering course here itself in Haryana. Later I realised that the 2nd Best university of my state is here in my city. Therefore after consulting with my elders I chose Biomedical Engg course.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The Course is very descriptive and detailed. It covers all the areas of biomedical field. The first two years focus more on academics and from third year onwards the minor and major projects start. During projects we work in gropus of 2-3 students and a mentor is assigned to each group to help with research and analysis. You also get to go for industrial training and internships in manufacturing or research units and hospitals during the summer break (June- July). In fact the final (8th) semester is entirely kept for training purpose.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, my university provides internship opportunities. We have a dedicated Training and Placement Cell (T&P Cell) which looks after all these kind of activities. Mostly the courses offered are paid, only few ones provide stipend averaging to 2000-3000 rupees. There is difference in various departments on providing/taking up these opportunities. Officially internship/training is provided only once. The student on his own can take up any internship he wishes to.

Placement Experience

3

In my department only two companies came for campus placement- Kirloskar Technologies and Hospimax Pvt Ltd. Many others organised off campus drives. Companies like Rivigo, RMS Pvt Ltd, Mods Medicare systems were some of them. The training and placement cell is very active in providing various kind of placement and job opportunities to students. It also runs a program called UDBHAVANA which is directed to building communication and presentation skills for students. The cell also keeps in touch with alumni and industry recruiters.

College Events

3.5

Yes there a number of technical fests organised in our university. Youth festival is celebrated in the month of october. All the colleges of nearby districts are affiliated to our university, so its a state level cultural festival. Students participate in good numbers but gradually its losing its charm because of mismanagement and loosing trust among the participants. Individual fests are also organised in some of the departments. Creativity and newness lacks in the festivals.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is absolutely feasible as it a state government funded university. An engineering student has to pay only fifty thousand per year for the academics. Hostel fees is also low. Only ten thousand for lodging. For reserved category fees is negligible. ( Nearly 2000 per year) The university does not charge any hidden fee or force anyone to pay for the voluntary services it offers.

Fees and Financial Aid

We have Punjab National Bank and Union Bank of India branches inside the university campus which offer the student loan at the rate of 4% to 8%. Beside this university provide government scholarship for reserved category students (SC, ST and OBC) only. And students securing first in two consecutive semesters in their class are given 5000 rupees scholarship.

Campus Life

4

We don't find good gender ratio in engineering departments , its about 1 girl to 8 boys approximately. But in science or commerce departments it is better 1 girl to every 4 boys. Students organise their parties on their own outside the campus. Majority of students are north indians mainly of Haryana and Punjab. We have NSS ( National Service Scheme) which conduct workshops and organises camps like blood donation, clealiness drive and celebrates World Water Day, Environment Day etc which helps in bringing various factions of the society together. There is an equal proportion of students from urban and rural areas. We don't have any cultural societies but a student welfare office which takes care of cultural activities. Student elections have now been restored after a ban of almost 7 years. There are no reports of ragging as it is banned completely. Students are now very much aware about their rights and we don't see much disturbance.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostel facilities are bad. Hostel rooms are untidy. According to rules 3 students are allowed in a room but sometimes the room is alloted to 5-6 students. The cleanliness and hygiene level is also not that great. The number of seats is less and therefore the hostel buildings appear very crowded. For a person the average cost for an year (food + lodging) is 2000 to 2500 rupees only. The mess food is of average quality. Students don't prefer to eat there and go out of the campus to eat frequently.

Alumni/Alumna

Our university organises an annual alumni meet. We got a chance to meet many our seniors last year. They were working in very diverse fields. Some had acquired reputed positions in MNCs. We talked to them and got an incite on how the industry functions and what are the demands or skills the recruiters sees in a fresher.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is fine according to me. We face two minor tests (20 marks each) of each subject during a semester. It is compulsory to pass at least one of them. We get enough holidays in semester exams to prepare, at least one holiday in between two exams. Written exams are of 70 marks containing 8 questions out of which we have to do any 5.Talking of labs, yes they are hectic because we have lab classes on daily basis. The time table is such that there are four lectures of 1 hr each and 2 labs of 2hr each which adds to 8 hours a day. I find it exhaustive. Final practicals also run all day long.

Admission

After the JEE result, the govt of Haryana through its website HSTES (Haryana State Technical Education Society) releases a notification in the starting of June and counselling process starts from the mid of June and takes place in 3 to 4 rounds and the whole procedure takes about a month and a half to complete (ends in July). Then the person is informed through website and SMS and Email when and how you have to approach the institute of your choice.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is highly qualified in their respective fields. The teachers take a bit less interest in teaching work and are concerned more with the events and seminars that happen all round the year. We have 5 days a week college and there a lot of holidays too which reduces the number of working hours. But the faculty is busy with the seminars and staff meetings that take place time to time.

I am in the computer science and engineering branch. I want to be a software developer and I am passionate about coding and I love to code that's why I am chosen this branch. The faculty members of my college are awesome and helpful. They are well qualified and knowledgeable. They cooperate with students in every situation . they focus much on the weak student so they can also pass the exam. they use the blackboard and smart classes both to teach the student effectively. we have industrial exposure also. the well built spacious will have no importance if not for the wonderful faculty the college has. All are faculty members are highly knowledgeable and done their post graduation from one of the top colleges like IITS. and most of the teachers are GATE qualified and even it is not once. they are writing the exam regularly. so, if you prepare for the GATE exam, then you can get great help from them. they used to prepare us for the GATE exam, along with academics
