Academics, Mess system,Alumni relations need to work hard enough . P.S. - Food standards have to rise up. SAC Culture -is growing and has been taking new highs, still budget discrepancies. Placements -need to be more distributed among core and non core fields and departments. Sports- Students have good core strength but lack technique, therefore coaching remains a lacunae. Research- I am still hoping when will we be coordinating industries regarding this. After all this, I still miss my NITR. It Rocks !

I appeared for AIEEE -2011 and cracked it with score of 196/360 that time securing AIR 11841 (SR-158) and opted for NIT Rourkela as it was near my home and top ranked NIT in the country as of now with excellent infrastructure & college campus. Admission process was through CCB-Central Counselling Board of NIT's.

Course-curriculum more or less i will say is same for all central govt. engineering colleges which doesn't make much difference in learning.All it matters for a student is what they acquire duringthe coarse of years .I had my electrical branch related subjects with 8 sems & 5 theories+ 5 labs per sem equivalently.

Yes Every year NIT Rourkela offers 50 paid internships to students across the country. The Internship period will be for 2 months. Usually the internships are offered during summer. Selected candidates will get financial assistantship. In addition to these a number of short term courses are conducted to students of various institutes for advance learning and career guidance. Placements were full in both core and non-core sectors company visiting for campus.100% placed major in IT firms & core during my batch.Highest package in my branch was offered by CIL(CTC~10 LPA) and average was dream companies with lowest being normal IT-IBM,TCS & others alike. Roles offered were of GET,Associate System Engineers,Analytics Associate & Software Engineers. Around 10 students got paid internship out of batch of 60 with monthly stpends ranging from 3K-5K.Remaining did vocational internships !

We have major 3 college events of fests what we called it as- 1. Technical Fest -Innovision NIT Rourkela held every year during Oct-Nov months . 2.Spring/Cultural fest including spicmacay traditional events and institute dance groups performances. 3.Sports Fest 4.ISM -International Students Meet 5.Literary & Debating events.

Fee structure exactly varies from year to year as per intake of students admissions & govt policies.In my time it costed me around 4 LPA for 4 yars B.tech programme including everything i.e mess bills +laptop expense+ academics tuition fees.Now its little bit costly especially for general candidates if you know what i mean.Still it's worth the shot as a career start into corporate job life.

NIT Rourkela supports students of higher learning with financial aids. NIT Rourkela is the second largest engineering campus in INDIA after IIT KGP in terms of infrastructure. You will love the stay here with awesome modern oriented labs,high tech classroomfacilities.Biju Pattnaik Central Library & Medical Dispensaries.You have Basket-ball court,Tennis Court,Swimming Pools both for girls & boys.Quality of food as usual in engineering colleges not so up to the mark.Hostel rooms are old and small.However new hostels have nice well ventilated rooms with great infrastructure.You will forget small defects while you have your friends and awesome career infront of you.Enjoy & have fun with work.

NIT Rourkela consists of 9 Halls of resisdence providing shelter to students from all parts of the world including married research scholars ,Phd's and profs.Mess food is also good with menu and change every week.Still college mess cannot be relied on everytime.But we have nice canteens & cafeterias inside the campus with facilities of night & day stalls also.You can have Maggi in midnight -hostelites food for survival especially during exams.

Now-a-days we have IITJEE central engineering entrance for common intake merit wise of which exam is held around April-May and admission batch starts from July-Aug of every year.Applicaion process & exam all are online these days.I appeared for pen & paper mode based entrance in my year.

: Faculties are from all levels from assistant to associates.Some are just contractual with little exposures with high qualified foreigh PhD's profs.You can gain all round exposure and undertake your graduation projects under your desired faculties.But some are very rude strict ones too.They have projectors and wipeable blackboards for teachings & ppt presentations in classrooms. Approximately 90 Students:1 Faculty in the institute ratio is well maintained throughout every sector & departments. Yes you have two industrial tours during your tenure of 4 years for exposure & experience practically. Course Curriculum was as per designed by HRD Govt. rules & regulations but it needs improvement.Focus must be on quality based learning rather than cramming and periodic exams.
