Remarks

I would like to conclude by saying that I'm highly privileged to belong to my college's family which is one of the most decent and happening college throughout Mumbai. I would definitely love to recommend it to those living in the suburbs in Mumbai

Entrance Preview

As i was pursuing CA so i won't be able to go be regular to college .. so i decided to pursue a correspondence which will enable me to focua on the main aim ...but trust me mumbai university is very good .. their proffesors ,assistants are very helpful .. .no entrance exam was required.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

It actually very good for me as i wanted to pursue bcom from correspondence so this was the best option for me. And as far as the course is concerned all the subject in the course are as per my interest ..so it depends upon peoplea choices ...subject of intrest and according to that you should choose your courses thats what i have done ..

Internships Opportunities

Despite being one of the best and most popular universities in the country, MU does not have an internship policy for it's students. This is more worrisome when there exists no record of how many students completed their internships last year. In the recent announcement by HRD Ministry about compulsory internships, this gap of having no-internship-policy certainly affects lacs of engineering students who study at institutions affiliated to Mumbai University.

Placement Experience

3

The Placement Cell of the Department is young. Students are actively involved in the working of the Cell under the guidance of Faculty co-ordinators. The Placement Cell welcomes corporates, banks and other organizations looking for post graduates in Economics. Students are employed with prestigious organizations (to list a few) such as Symphony Services, National Stock Exchange, CRISIL, CARE, TATA Services Ltd., Times of India, FINO - a subsidiary of ICICI Bank, CII, Housing Development Finance Corporation, Economic and Political Weekly Research Foundation, GE CIS , Pratham, Accenture, NewsWire 18, Capital Markets.

College Events

3

The Mumbai University also conducts its youth festival every year in the month of August where, colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai participate in their endeavours to win the maximum number of competitions and thereby win the title of the best college in Mumbai. Students are selected from within college, to represent the college at the university level. They are also groomed well, to be competent enough to combat the talents from other colleges. The Mumbai University, conducts various competitions to promote culture among students such as dance, theatre, miming and the college that wins the maximum number of competitions is selected as the best college of the city for that year. For the past many years, at the youth festival, St. Xaviers College and Ramnarain Ruia College have been battling for the number one place with St. Xaviers having the maximum number of wins till date. Along with annual college festivals, there are faculty based festivals such as Media Festivals and Management festivals that are becoming hugely popular in Mumbai. The Bachelor of Mass Media festival Conducted by Wilson College: Polaris and Jai Hind College's Detour are among the popular ones to name a few. College festivals also attract a large number of corporate sponsorship, as the festivals are an excellent platform for the leading brands to target the youth. Clothing brands, cool drinks, mobile, magazines, eating joints, etc are among the leading sponsors of popular college festivals. College festivals also have room for the star struck students, as they get a chance to meet their favourite celebrities ranging from actors to musicians. College festivals are very precious to every student, as it is in the prime youth that students get excellent opportunities to enjoy and display their talents.

Fee Structure And Facilities

http://www.getmyuni.com/college/university-of-mumbai-institute-of-distance-and-open-learning-idol-mumbai-courses-fees#collapse-commerce-distance-b-com-36-distance-learning...it is feasible as compared to other colleges i feel it is worth full so people need not to worry about the fees structure

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not participate for any scholarship grants or loans with God's grace. But, we had numerous Grants for worthy candidate based upon their Educational Merit.

Campus Life

5

The Campus life was very much lively and the Gender Ratios were quite healthy and diverse. The extra curricular activities were highly various and competitive. I participated in many of them. Cultural Events, Theater, National Quiz competitions, Special Sanskrit Classes, Debates and much more. The participating crowd was highly noteworthy.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have never seen and use its hostel facility so I have no idea about it. Even not seen the mess food or ate it so I have no idea about it too.but i heard from one of my friend who live in thw hostel of mumbai university and according to him the food is good and the mess staff also very friendly.

Alumni/Alumna

The Seniors were always very friendly and easy to approach. Thankfully we never faced any problems of bullying or nagging from their end. Instead, they were always helpful and respected.

Exam Structure

Its not hectic at all its very calm to go to exam ..because the exams are not very frequent.they are after a time period of break like your next exam will be after 1 days of holiday so you will get a time to revise everything ..for me its very helpful like if you get a one day leave after every exam so that you can relax and revise all the things which u have forgotten.

Admission

Its very simple actually you just have to do a registration in the mumbai idol site and then go to university and do a admission submit all the required document with 3 -4 multiple copies.. accordingly they will verify the documents then we make the payment through online as per their instruction ...then after you are done with the admission you just have to fill the exam form 3-4 months before the exam then and it is required only for the first year and then for the second and third year of your course you just have to admission.

Faculty

4.5

I m doing correspondence so i really don't know about the faculty but i m sure that the faculty and all the proffesors must be well qualified otherwise they will not be in the recognized mumbaiuniversity. Infact in every colleges wherever you go the facilities are well qualified others they won't be appointed .

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
