Funny Engineering

I have been here for more than 1 year and I am enjoying my engineering life. I think engineering in this college with nominal fee and good atmosphere was unexpected.This is all in One.

I had given WBJEE entrance test for Jadavpur University in 2016.I got 827 rank. I first thing that I saw was its ranking as university.It was among Asia's top 14 universities and top 10 engineering colleges of India. The most interesting thing was its fee structure,less than 10000 for 4 years. Admission process was as same as it is.One needs to report to counselling center for seat confirmation and at last to the college.

The course curriculum in my university is up to the level.The university is autonomous.The syllabus changes from time to time to keep it updated with the requirement. 1st year 1st semester syllabus of all engineering departments are more or less same. Since I am from civil deparment, I will tell about Civil course.In 1st semester I went through basic electrical,physics and sociology and also labs. IN 2nd semester I did auto-cad.I would like to mention 2 years before auto cad was not in syllabus but some companies which came for placement wanted that the candidates should have basic knowledge of auto-cad and so was introduced in the syllabus.In 3rd semester I will be taught C language.Now I am learning Fortran. About departmental-I have started learning about engineering drawing from 1st semester and structure analysis from 2nd semester. Primarily, Jadavpur Univesrity Is famous for research.Its advanced TEQUIP building is well known and recently it got a fund for more than 100 crores.

Last year,HERO-the famous two wheeler auto company hired interns from my college.I am not sure about the stipend. Moreover,I am seen some students applying for internship outside the college. In civil,in 3rd year 2nd semester,there i a camp/industrial surveying of 15 days.

There is a lot of scope of campus placement in my college. The average package of CSE fr this year is 12-14 lakhs.The same reputation is shared by IT. Last year electrical department did very well. The other department are also good having average placements in the rage of 4-10 lakhs.

The first one is Freshers for every department oraganised by 2nd years.It is very exciting to organise such events.For 1st years U-turn and mixed sports are organised. Then in march a big cultural fest,SANSKRITI is organised with pomp and show.It is a 7-10 days event. After that Reunion,farewell,ted-talks,entrepreneur like events are organised.

The fee structure is far beyond your imagination. For 4 year course it is less than 10000rs.Out of 10000 you pay 5000 in counselling.However if you take admission through spot round you will have to give additional 5000. FEE for IT department is a little bit high around 30000 rs. IF you are allotted hostel there is admission fee of 3200 rs and monthly expense in hostel is not more than 2000 rs

I know about Alumni scholarship.One needs to apply in 1st year for this scholarship.Then interview is taken and students are selected. Also,Hostels are provide based on income and id one's family ahs a financial crunch then there is provision for half-mess,he needs to pay only 1000 rs for mess.

Particularly in engineering,gender ratio is not so good. There is Union in our college FETSU free from any political parties. Moreover there are various clubs like photographic club,dance club,debate society,music club.robotics. There is a diversity of culture in our campus as students are from far regions like Jammu &kashmir and north eastern states. Moreover teams are formed like cricket,badminton,rugby,football,etc to play at various levels like zone,state.

In Jadavpur University Main Hostel there are 4-sitters and 2-sitters.For each student is provided a table,almirah,chair,power board.Each 4 sitters have 2 fans and 2-sitters have 1 fan.There is also a big lake i the hostel plus a canteen.In the main campus there is new block hostel having similar facilities.In salt lake campus there is similar facilities except that each student is provided single room

There is a scholarship called alumni scholarship funded by alumni. Moreover in events like Sanskriti and reunion they make huge contribution

One needs to be serious about labs.If you miss 1 or 2 because of a proper you will be given arrears.But if you frequently miss your labs and sessionals then it will take you in deep trouble. Moreover there are fixed number of labs and good time is given.So it is wrong to say that it leaves me with a hectic day.But I can't say it is casual.You need to be serious.

I used to check websites of state engineering frequently.After October, I got information on webjeeb.nic.in about wbjee entrance exam schedule. One needs to fill up the form carefully and there are some options for test center.If your are not West Bengal resident(no domicile of west bengal)then you can give test in kolkata only.One needs to pay 500 rs after form filling. Personally I would like to give advice that while going to kolkata to give test,please book your hotel in advance.If so,try to take help if you have any relative there.Don't just go without planning.There is a lot rush in metro. One month after giving test results come out on its website.If one gets 50% marks one can get rank under 1500. After few days counselling process starts and you need to book your seats.Always remember if you don't have west bengal domicile, you will come under OTHER STATE-GENERAL CATEGORY.Moreover you can take admissions in Jadavpur university and kalyani. Besides these,you can take admission in any private college based on your rank. When your seats get confirmed you will be allotted a reporting center to report in person with all required documents.You can either lock your seat or choose auto-up-gradation. You need to check website of your college to see dates for further reporting. I did the same. I went to jadavpur University but I forgot documents like income certificate and medical.However I got admission and they told me to submit all the left document within on month after the college starts.I did so.

As far as I have observed I am satisfied with my professors.They are well equipped with their knowledge and experience. I must mention D.C sir who got GATE RANK-13 and he gets call every ten minutes.Almost every big building needs his assistance. I should mention about S.N.G sir who is highly qualified and teaches us theory of structures.One is S.N.M sir who is a part of interview committee in I.E.S
