Remarks

Atharva college of engineering is one of the few engineering colleges in Mumbai which provide Electrical Engineering course for BE. The campus is small but spacious. The teaching staff is also good. Most importantly, the crowd is also good. The college campus has a swimming pool, along with a cafeteria in the canteen. Atharva college was included in the list of top 100 engineering colleges in India in 2016. This college is not yet renowned but given its high ambition it will surely become one of the top engineering colleges in Mumbai shortly. Atharva college also has the Hotel Management and Film Making institute in the same campus.

Entrance Preview

I took the JEE mains exam in 2015 to get into an engineering college. I scored 60 mark which was a subpar score. I had to pursue Electrical Engineering because I was interested in this course. There are a very few Engineering colleges in Mumbai which provided this course. Being in Open category and for my marks, Atharva college was my best option in Mumbai And hence I got into this College.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is quite good. However, the curriculum is quite base on theoretical concepts. The practical knowledge is quite less. The curriculum has good concepts and topics. However, most of the topics are outdated. The concepts are pretty interesting.

Internships Opportunities

The college does not them provide the internship. the students have to themselves find the internships and then approach the college for reviewing the internships. However, the faculty members provide various internship sources for the students.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement and job opportunities are quite good. However, there are not many core stream related jobs. Most of the hobs are in the IT sector. Being in Electrical profession this is quite discouraging for me. Overall the students get good job placements with decent packages.

College Events

5

The college celebrates a hell lot of events throughout the year. We have IEEE TECHITHON which is the Annual technical event of the college. This fest comes in the odd semester every year. Then we have the EMBER fest which is an entrepreneurship fest in the even semester. We have RHYTHM which is the main fest i.e. the art fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is quite feasible in comparison to the other engineering colleges in Mumbai. The fees are according to the caste categories with Open caste having the highest fees. The lower caste categories are provided with the scholarship from the Government and therefore have low fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship is provided to the lower caste students and in the TFWS section. This scholarship helps the students who have limited finances and helps them pursue education.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is quite good. The gender ratio is about 60:40.The labs are up to the mark. Atharva College is the only engineering college in Mumbai and Maharashtra which has a robot center in the college. We can learn programming and all the features of the industrial grade KUKA robot and the world famous NAO robot.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities are good for the students coming from far away places to study in this college. The hostel has a good environment and cleanliness. The hostel hours are also quite strict. The food services in the hostel are also quite nice. The rooms are clean and spacious.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students are quite helpful and encourage us in the fests and enlighten us with their experience and knowledge. The crowd is one of the best and is quite helpful. The seniors are quite helpful and also provide us with books.

Exam Structure

The exam structure consists of two unit tests and one main exam along with the vivas and practical exam in a semester. The unit tests are in two months which becomes quite hectic for the students. Ample time is given to prepare for the ester exams. We also get enough days in between two papers to prepare for the exam.

Admission

I got admission in this college through the CAP round one of the Engineering college Admission processes. I was allotted this college according to my marks in 12th standard boards and the JEE exam in 2016. The admission process was quite smooth as such. We had to submit all the legal documents and mark sheets to the college and secure the admission.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is quite good. Some of the faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D.'s. The faculty has the knowledge of the subject thoroughly and is well aware of all the concepts in the curriculum. They teach the classes quite seriously and provide useful note and question papers for us to help us prepare for the exams.

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
