Remarks

Nothing so bad to write but the experience in a forest area with the technical studies could a bit wild in nature and its too good if one enjoys it.

Entrance Preview

i took WBJEE in the year of 2009, can't remember the score right now but the rank wasn't satisfying. I got the chance of the last seat through second counselling. I opted for this college as it has a well and technically efficient mechanical dept.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

As per our previous curriculum of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering which was changed from 2011, i.e. the old curriculum was experienced for final time by us, the 2009-2013 batch. The course structure of WBUT was good, technically conceptual and ideal enough to get a good focus on research. The 1st year syllabus consisted of various departmental subjects and final year with a wide scope of projects on multiple fields. Rest of the subjects were arranged in perfect combination for the same.

Internships Opportunities

Our course and college placement cell arranges and provides mostly the full time jobs placement on/off campus. May be, in present days some opportunities are there for internship which could be guided better by our placement cell and website.

Placement Experience

3

Before our times students used to get the golden opportunities of numerous core companies like L&T, Ambuja and so many reputed MNCs till 2011, but from according to the market situation we(2013 batch) faced the blow of core job crisis but still managed to get a job from some off campus interviews. I got a job from campus with a CTC of 1.8Lacs PA. The percentage figure of on campus placement in that year was below 50%.

College Events

4

There were so many events round the year. From the annual fest to various religious and cultural events were organised by the students and management. Multiple sports activities and their tournaments were at the top of entertainments. indoor games tournament and tech fest also gathers attention.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure was perfectly feasible as till 2013 the fees were Rs.41500 for one year and residential charges were not more than 3K per month. It was quite competitive cost compared to other private colleges in West Bengal where in some colleges, the extra charges could sum up the total cost of 4years at more than 10lakhs.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan facility and scholarship facility both are available. Some of the students avail the facilities. For more information about the eligibility criterion our website and helpdesk can guide better.

Campus Life

4.5

anyone can expect a wild and adventurous campus life in a remote forest area with frequent attacks of elephants, riverside darkness and less number of people around the campus boundary. Gender ratio is less(1female: 6male approx), perhaps the location is the reason. diversity of different languages are there but students are free from any pollitical, sexual, religious or economic problems inside the campus and entertainments have crossed the academics in terms of extracurricular acts.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel facilities and food was better than other neighborhood colleges. 1st year students have to share a room with two other room-mates where in 2nd year with one room-mate. 3rd and final year students have to stay in a single bed room. Separate canteens for different years hostels retains the quality.

Alumni/Alumna

From last two years the alumni network has become more effective and it is getting more helpful through social media as we are connected to our juniors.

Exam Structure

Semesters held twice a year with different labs. The written exams were mostly average in standard of questions and the scoring techniques, though the labs were a bit difficult to score. Round the year, all the evaluations, internals and training made us busy but overall it was interesting.

Admission

I had a rank in WBJEE and selected some colleges of my choice but could not get chance in 1st counselling. So I shortened the list and opted this college in the second counselling which was notified online and procedures were demonstrated by some professionals in the pre-counselling events. During the selection of college through second counselling(offline) i had to pay an initial amount of admission charge of Rs.10K.

Faculty

3

i am quite satisfied with the methods, willingness, behaviors and setup of the faculties and the department. The well experienced veteran engineers from various reputed PSUs and some dynamic lab assistants made the course completed, academically and practically successful respectively.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
