Remarks

My college IIT BHU is pretty great...all the seniors are very helpful ..there is a concept of tech dad and tech mom and seniors actually treat us like that ..they call freshers "faccha". When I came first I was afraid in this beginning of life but they made it easier. The campus is awesome and very vast. The college management is good too. The problems that I had was only in settling in hostel room as rooms are not that big...rest is all good

Entrance Preview

I took Joint entrance examination (JEE) to enter in this college. My score was 165 and my rank was 6914.I preferred to come to this college as it comes under BHU which is one of the oldest universities of India and its placement packages are quite high.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum of IIT BHU is quite good. The main focus of the curriculum is to make students interested in research. In first semester we have to study all the subject irrespective of branch including C, quantum physics, linear algebra ,etc. but then from second semester onward there are branch specific subjects..The curriculum of IIT BHU not only focuses on studies but also on creative practices, human values and physical education. In first year, students have to get up at 6 and go to gymkhana round where they have to do exercise ...apart from this there is a course of creative practices also in which u can opt for anything u like ex: painting, violin, dance these help in their extra-curricular activities of students..In their second year they have to do an exploratory project and in their third year they have to opt for an stream according to heir interest in which they are going to do research afterwards...thus it makes them ready for their future and they have to study subjects of their stream only.Apart from all this students have to choose humanities course each semester like management courses , history, sociology this makes them an all rounder.

Internships Opportunities

Yes ,IIT BHU provides internship called "DIH". Its a very good internship program in which students are given a stipend of 9000 plus accommodation in our hostels. This internship program teaches us a lot. There is continuous evaluation which keeps students motivated to do their project. At the last, students have to present their work before a council of professors and a last final evaluation is taken place.

College Events

5

IIT BHU is great for extra curricular activities . There are several clubs to fulfill the hobbies of every student. There is cultural council including dance club, fine arts club, design club , film and media and Science and tech. council including robotics, aeromodelling club ,, games council Apart from this there is a tech fest called "technex" in which many colleges come to participate .There is a cult fest called "Kashi Yatra" and also a sports fest "Spardha".These all are very big events in which different IITs come to participation and in every fest at night there is an event to chill out the participants in which different singers like sachin jigar, shirley setia nd bands come like metallica etc come and there are tech talks too in day in tech fest .Huge amount is also given to the winners.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of all IITs is almost same ..the only difference is hostel and mes fees. The academic fees of IIT BHU is: 1,05,950.00 per semester 54,033.00 per semester 20,700.00 per semester 20,400.00 semester The hostel fees is 12 K per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Institute offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to 25% undergraduate students. Besides, there are several endowment scholarships offered by the Institute. Some other facilities are also provided to the undergraduate students in the form of Institute free studentship, scholarship, re-reimbursement of mess charges and pocket allowances to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. All the students (non-sponsored) admitted to M.Tech./M.Pharm. programs are provided financial Assistance equivalent to the Junior Research Fellowships. The Institute offers a large number of Junior/Senior Research Fellowships to students admitted to Ph.D. programs. Efforts are being made to offer scholarships to all eligible candidates admitted to Ph.D. Programs.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is quite good...the campus of IIT BHU is full of greenery...there are lot of trees and there is a famous temple inside it "Vishwanath Temple" The gender ratio is not good ..in my year there are just 46 girls over 990 boys but its very diverse ..u can find students from south India, north India ,central India etc. The extra curricular activities are awesome . U can learn a lot. Before coming to college i haven't thought about robotics but here i made my own robot which won the award of most innovative bot ..there are various programs for freshers which encourages them...there are special workshops for every club..where u can learn to make bot, quad copter, rc plane etc. There is a lit club for interested students...which is pretty great .They organize JAM, debates etc... they also go outside India. Apart from this there is an IMC club for people interested in singing . All these clubs are great and they have won many prizes in various inter IIT events and in another colleges.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel for first year is not that good but after first year hostel is pretty good .In first and second year, the hostel room is triple seated but after second year room is double seated . The food is pretty great . We get breakfast along with milk, egg etc. and in lunch curd, daal , 3 vegetables is there and in dinner sweet dish is also there along with all this. Fruits are also present in breakfast....there is a menu which is decided by a committee of students so its pretty great.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is great there is a special Alumni cell which manages all alumni apart from this interested students have alumni as supervisors if they want any help regarding future or what to do. Seniors are pretty great too. In IIT BHU there is a concept of Tech Dad nd Tech Mom...thus according to roll no. each one of us is assigned a tech dad or tech mam and they help us in everything right from giving notes, taking for a walk of campus to internships and placements. There is one senior in my dept. Naman Katyal who is DR1 ..he is very helpful.I took all the help like making cv, cover letter , notes , where to apply for internships etc. I am also in a contact of one alumni Satyajit Mahapatra who is currenty working at ZS Associates. He is very helpful too ..he told me all about foreign intern as he has done internship at a university of france..he always motivates me to do something different in my life

Exam Structure

Earlier there were three exams i.e. 2 periodical tests(CTs) and 1 end semester examination but now it has been reduced to just two i.e. 1 mid semester examination and 1 end semester examination. Now the mid semester exams are of 2 hrs and end semester exam of 3 hrs .Apart from this there is continuous evaluation and assignments.First year time table is pretty hectic but afterward everything is lite. There are labs but not that tiresome

Admission

I took JEE exam and after qualifying it counselling started and i got this in third counselling. After that i have to come here for my registration and then on the first day we have to go for registration after which there is an orientation program for freshers.hostel room was allotted and then all the admission procedures were completed .

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of IIT BHU is pretty good ..most of them are post graduated from foreign universities and are doing research work here, there are many PhD's under every professors. You can find professors doing research in every field. My stream is computational chemistry and in my stream here are two professors guiding me.I am close to publish my own paper which is possible only because of their guidance and constant support.

I choose this course because I want to be a software developer. The faculty are very kind and helpful. Almost every faculty member has completed there post-graduation from various established colleges. The examination scheme is a little bit slow here. Students can pass their semester exams if they are paying at least 45 per cent of their concentration.
