An MBA worth doing

The course curriculum is exhaustive, with each trimester (2.5 months -3 months) having roughly ten subjects. In the first year, subjects from all the domains are taught. In the second year, students can choose their elective courses according to their interests and the domain where they want to build their career.

SIP i.e. Summer Internship Placements at IIM Bodh Gaya, is a three-credit mandatory component of the MBA program. It is for a duration of two months. It gives students a fair idea of the corporate industry working in their chosen domain and applying all the classroom concepts in the real world. Companies ranging from banking, manufacturing, and IT to consulting visit campus annually for SIP in multiple roles. Students are placed across the country.

Placements are the best among all the third-generation IIMs and other private B-Schools. Companies from Banking, manufacturing, FMCG, and Consultancy to IT come to campus every year for summer internship placements and final placements. Every year, the placement report is audited by a recognized agency.

The fee structure is high as compared to other third-generation IIMs, but there is excellent financial assistance provided from different banks with no collateral and no co-borrower. There are various options for scholarships provided by the college. need-based scholarships are provided in the first year and merit-based in the second year.

IIM Boh Gaya is a student-run campus. The annual fest of IIM Bodh Gaya is called Elegante, which is organized in the month of January or February every year. Students from various colleges nationwide participate in this fest, both online and offline. There are a total of 13 committees and 14 clubs in IIM BG. A faculty mentors each committee and club, but students do all the work. The entrepreneurial spirit is cultivated among the students from day one, and they are encouraged to do some campus startups; seed money is provided by the college Envision Cell.

Hostel charges are not separate. They are included in the total college fees, which are revised every year. The hostel and Mess committee take care of any issue related to accommodation and mess food. Forms are floated every month to decide the menu for the upcoming month, and feedback is taken from the students about the same.

Admission to the flagship MBA program in any IIM is only through the CAT entrance examination. Candidates who get a percentile above a certain threshold are called for interviews. This cut-off percentile varies every year and depends upon which the candidate belongs. Admission to IIM Bodh Gaya is conducted through CAP and SAP rounds. Since 2020 most of the interviews are conducted online. A panel of faculties from different IIMs take interviews for the appearing candidates. Thereafter, a merit list is prepared including various components like CAT percentile, CAP/SAP interviews score, Work experience weightage, extracurricular weightage etc. Certain candidates are also kept on the waiting list. All the selected students are asked to accept the admission offer by paying some amount to the college. Finally, candidates who accept the admission offer are called on campus for document verification and admission.

Interview questions can be from all walks of life; one can not predict it. However, a candidate should be well-versed in questions about himself, his life, his family, his hobbies, his hometown, subjects of graduation, job experience, and current affairs.
