Course Curriculum Overview
I choose ECE because since childhood I love physics. In +1 and +2 I got interested in wireless technology, semiconductors, etc. The ece branch is the best fit for my interests. This is the best decision I took. Every four years curriculum changes. As of now, the ECE curriculum is outdated. Like every college, here also we have some good professors with good knowledge and some professors with no knowledge at all in the subject they teach. Students to faculty ratio is good. Some faculties are having doctorates, and some are currently doing PhDs. Most professors prefer teaching using PPTs which we students don't like at all. But they are some professors who are extraordinary and don't use ppts at all and their way of teaching is very good(like DR. Abhilash sir for EMT and DR. G Kurup sir for RF). Amrita University has a dedicated exam cell and an academic coordination cell. They both make a full semester plan before a semester starts. So, exams, and holidays are well planned (but sometimes they may change.
Placement Experience
From the 6th semester, we will be eligible for placements. Mostly IT and networking companies visit the campus like Cisco, Arista, etc. Mercedes-Benz also visits the campus but the acceptance rate is very less. The highest package is around 30-40 L ctc. On average the package will be 7L. Last year our seniors got placed with a rate of 96%. I want to go for further studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
I got slab 4 - that is 1.60L per year. You have the option to break the fee and pay a fee per semester. It all depends on the rank you get. Good rank means good slab. But you have to maintain 8+CGPA if you want to continue your scholarship (slab 1,2,3). Otherwise, you have to pay the full fee.
Campus Life
There is mainly 2 flagship fest per year. They will be conducted in April and later on. The best thing about the college is that they have separate wings of departments apart from the main department. They have an exam cell, academic coordinator, students department, Library, and placements. The library is top-notch in this college. You get almost every book they mention in the course and many reference books also. The journals are also well-maintained. You can take a book with you for 15 days after which you can extend the period if you want. We also have e- Library which has previous year's question papers, In college publications, etc. We have around 10-15 technical and non-technical clubs. Some clubs are very active. It is based on the club executives. You can join any club you wish and can create an official new club if this college doesn't has one.
Hostel Facilities
I stayed in hostel for one year. This facility provides hostel solar hot water for day time and a geyser per floor for the evening time. We have a laundry service once a week. Rooms- It's a 4-sharing room which is okay if your ability to manage things. You have to clean your room. Meals are okay type .some times they make good food and sometimes the worst. But in any college, you have to adjust to the food. But for the price we pay for a hostel, it's not that good. After getting admission to the college you can contact the hostel management for any queries. Before 2-5 days of commencement of college, the hostel registration starts which is offline based. There are separate blocks for 1st years and the remaining years to block the ragging. The rooms are allocated on a first come first serve based and on lottery. If you want to join with any friends you can request at the time of allotment. The hostel is exactly opposite the campus block and is located in a very good location.
Admission
You can get admission to any Amrita University location in 3 ways: The AEEE exam is conducted by University, Currently, the exam is held in offline mode. The syllabus for the exam is the same as JEE. If you get a good rank, you may get a scholarship. Through JEE mains/ advanced rank card. If have a good rank, you may get a scholarship. and Management quota, you have to apply for management quota from the amrita university website itself by uploading your 10th, and 12th board mark sheet. (Application fee for this is around 10k or so). The yearly tuition fee is also not that much high when compared to other management quota seats in other universities. You may easily get a management quota seat. Choosing the branch and location of the university is similar to all the above-mentioned processes. As usual, CSE is in high demand but that doesn't mean that it's the best branch.
