Course Curriculum Overview
Physiotherapy is one the field of medical sciences which works along with rehabilitation, it is one growing field in India with huge demand across the nation and in foreign countries too, and after researching its scope I choose to pursue BPT, but as I couldn't make it to govt. colleges in India I took admitted at NIMS UNIVERSITY, JAIPUR. I'll be honest, at NIMS University's College of Physiotherapy the faculty: student ratio is way higher than I expected, there are 350+ students in my batch and we have 2 faculties for each subject. Faculties are well qualified and their teaching methods are also good, but as there are a lot of students it's hard for faculties to deliver lectures to 350+ students in a class. Exams are semester based and we have two internals and one university exam every semester. And each semester is of almost 5 months. Exams are of moderate level but as per the seniors, the passing ratio is quite low.
Placement Experience
Medical professionals don't get much campus placement, it's all about our skills, knowledge, and network which plays a huge role in our career growth. As per past records placement of bpt graduates is offered by NIMS hospital and other hospitals in nearby surrounding, like Apollo. The average package here at NIMS is around 20000 INR per month for bpt graduates. And almost 30 percent of students get placement by the university. I have planned to get some work experience after graduation and then move out for PG.
Fees and Financial Aid
As it's my first year I haven't seen any fees hike personally but as per our seniors the fee hike if occurs it is around 5k-10k in new sessions. Universities provide scholarships for the first year tuition fee to students who have secured good marks in their board exams. For example, if you have 75%+ in your boards then a 50% scholarship in tuition fees for the first year will be awarded. There is no job opportunity for ug students at the university, however, after completing the course students can get a placement at a university hospital.
Campus Life
NIMS University has a really good campus infrastructure and there are a lot of fests conducted at the university, Universities biggest fest Shardha (sports event) was conducted in the month of April 2023 in which more than 16 gaming competitions were there and was 1-week long event. All the classrooms have either smartboard or projectors which enables us to acess smart education. University has 3 libraries and reading halls, The central library is filled with books and has a big reading hall and a seperate computer section where students can access computer and internet services. There are not much social groups run by students officially.
Admission
There are no big eligibility criteria for a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at NIMS University, you just have to pass your 12th boards with 50% or above marks. To apply for admission you need to fill application form currently available on the university website, application fee is around 800 INR. There are no reservation benefits for students at the university. The application process is quite easy but can be further optimized to avoid website glitches.
Other Applied Colleges
Jamia Hamdard University | Bachelor of Physiotherapy [BPT]
Overall fees at Jamia Hamdard for BPT is quite high as compared to NIMS University which I can not afford to pay.
